Hosokawa have over 20 years experiencein the design and manufacture of hygienicfilling and weighing systems for thepharmaceutical, food and chemicalprocessing industries. A range ofequipment is available, designed for theprocessing and packaging of expensivenoxious or toxic products to solve powderand granular handling problems.

Stott Sealing Head Systems

Suitable for dust free packing into drums, bags, boxes and bulk containers a range ofrobust sealing heads form an integral partof dust free packing systems.

Stott Filling & Weighing Systems

Hygienic filling and weighing systemsfrom Hosokawa maintain the higheststandards of dust control and productintegrity. Stable and repeatable weightreadings are given to meet the exactcontainer weight specifications even inarduous conditions.

Dust emissions are automatically takenaway from the operator whilst the totallyenclosed filling system reduces potentialoutside contamination of the product.

When combined with an automaticcontainer indexer, conveyor and labelprinter a complete automatic, bulkpackaging system can be developed.

The Horizontal Laminar Flow Booth’scontrolled, once through, non turbulent airflow ensures extra environmental safetyand good operator protection from dustand fumes.Available in standard sizes upto 4m wide the ergonomic design of theHosokawa Laminar flow Booths allows awide range of containers to be handledeither manually or automatically.

Individually designed to meet specificrequirements the flow booths are suppliedwith integral fan/ motor systems withequipment zoned according to areaclassifications.

With optional inbuilt exhaust filtration orconnection to local dust collectionsystems the laminar flow booths offer asafe, clean air facility for applicationssuch as product charging and discharging, filling and weighing, inspection anddispensing, CIP work and also thepumping or dispensing of liquids orsolvents.

Air is extracted at the back of the booththrough a full rear plenum designed togive a laminar pull of air to 0.5 m/secacross the open front face access and thus

creating a non-turbulent air flow pullingaway any product emissions from thework area and operator.

Laminar Flow Booth used for safe transferof liquids. Transfer pipes can beincorporated in the ceiling. Booth

manufactured from epoxy coated mildsteel or alternatively stainless steel.

Booth side faces can include pneumatic ormanual doors for drum entry and removal, and to correspond with others externalroller conveyor.

Automatic and manual drum or kegtipping equipment available fromHosokawa offers safe product transfer.Product tipping units can be integratedinto Laminar Flow Booths, Down FlowBooths or Glove Box facilities and aresuitable for handling fibreboard kegs, plastic or steel drums up to 200ltr and250kg.

Vitalair Downflow RecirculationBooths

Achieving a minimum 99.99% filtrationperformance, Hosokawa DownflowRecirculation Booths are used particularlywhere hazardous, toxic or sensitizingpowders are handled.

The air recirculation system ensurescomplete safety for personnel as aconditioned downflow of air passesvertically from the booth’s ceiling inletplenum pushing any dust or vapoursdownwards and away from the operator’sbreathing zone.

The air is extracted from the booth via lowlevel grills mounted in the rear wall. Theexhaust air is taken through a series offilters prior to recirculation into the booth

Non-standard size systems have beensupplied between 1.5m and 12.00m wideand from 2.0m and 9.0m high internally.

Vitalair Stand Alone DownflowBooth

Designed for flexible use for all types ofpowder handling applications the standalone downflow booths operate from asingle plug-in connection and can beinstalled without the need to alter existingfixtures.

Constructed to meet individual requirementsthe booths can incorporate ‘grey’ outer areasfor goods and personnel access. This meansthe Vitalair stand alone booths can be placedin designated ‘black’ areas without risk topersonnel or product integrity.

Vitalair Downflow Single PassBooths

Ideal for use when fume or solvent ladensubstances are being handled or when highpotency products demand a once throughphilosophy. The single pass booth operatesa vertical airflow pushing dust or vapoursdownwards to ensure clean air in theoperator’s breathing zone with airdischarged 100% to atmosphere. utilising adedicated air supply and exhaust fan sets, both of which are normally fitted withHEPA standard (99.99%) filtration systems.

In today’s industrial climate the demandsfor strict regulation and compliance toreduce operator exposure levels cannot beover emphasised.

Hosokawa’s expertise in this area isrenowned, being the preferred supplier tomany major pharmaceutical and chemicalcompanies worldwide.

High Containment Isolators

Where ultra high containment levels arerequired for the handling of highly activeor toxic chemicals the Hosokawa range ofisolators offers complete operator safetyand product integrity.

Designed to meet individual requirementsisolators enable both manual and automatichandling procedures to be carried out withminimal operator exposure.

Isolator Systems

Incorporating barrier containmenttechnology in critical process areas suchas milling, drying and product pack off,Hosokawa are able to offer containmentlevels of below 1µg/m3. Utilisingindividually designed processingequipment integrated within the sealedenvironment of an isolator offers a trueshirt ‘sleeve environment’.

Hosokawa work in close co-operation withcustomers to ensure that all production andcontainment levels and user requirementsare fully met. Individual designs aretranslated to CAD and virtual presentationprior to mock up stage before production.

Integrated CIP

Integrated CIP is now a major designfactor in containment technology. iteliminates the need for additional cleaningbays with the associated potential for crosscontamination and minimises downtimewhilst at the same time ensuring the totalprotection of personnel. Hosokawa havedeveloped a range of isolators which offera variety of CIP options.

Glove Boxes

The glove boxes are ergonomicallydesigned for ease of use, allowingproducts to be handled without risk ofexposure. Over pressure and underpressure environments can be maintainedand humidity controlled to ensure productintegrity and stability.
