LINK Unlimited Scholars Honors Kirkland & Ellis As This Year’s DreamKeepers Award Recipient at Their Annual Dreamkeepers Gala on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

LINK Unlimited Scholars is Chicago’s only college and career success organization focused solely on African-American Youth. This one-of-a-kind program’s mission is to connect economically disadvantaged African American high school students with mentors, resources and foundational skills required for success as they advance into, through and beyond college. LINK has served more than 2,400 scholars since its inception in 1966 and boasts a 100% college acceptance rate for the past 17 years and counting.

DreamKeepers is LINK’s annual fundraiser where more than 500 of Chicago’s business, philanthropic and community leaders come together to support the organization’s goal of providing educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged youth and young adults from some of the Chicagoland’s most underserved neighborhoods. This year the gala will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago (Cocktails served at 5:30). Themed, From Dreams to Reality, this event is a night to celebrate the overall achievements of LINK, raise awareness about the organization, and to highlight the need for continuous support.

In recognition of their enduring commitment as a corporate partner, global law firm Kirkland & Ellis will be honored as this year’s DreamKeepers Award recipient. Being chosen for this award means LINK has a partnership with a company (or individual) who--over the years--has given personal, professional, and financial treasures as a means to help us provide access to success for every LINK scholar.

For nearly two decades, more than 30 employees from Kirkland & Ellis have served as mentors to scholars of the LINK organization. This contribution has provided the LINK scholars with emotional support, tuition assistance, and access to professional development opportunities. Kirkland & Ellis mentors teach scholars and encourage them to do their best. It speaks volumes to the successful outcome of the program.

Gurnee’s haven for all things chocolate is announcing new menu items including Sanctuary Chicken potpie, Coco Sanctuary Chili, and a “pasta of the day.” All the dishes have hints of flavor from the restaurants namesake, but never overpower the other flavors of the dish. Dishes incorporate the cocoa bean in many forms, creating a savory yet decadent flavor profile.  The Chocolate Sanctuary is open for lunch and dinner serving unique offerings that will excite the palate and awaken the cocoa lover in you. Dishes include a wide variety of appetizers and plates to share, soups, salads and sandwiches. There are three new salads on the menu, a Waldorf salad, tri-color salad, and a Frisse and spinach salad.
