STAGE 2F: Major Deck (Laurel Street) Work. Timeline: April 8, 2014 through April 30, 2014. Areas Impacted: Laurel Street leading into the Park Plaza. Access: Deck to be closed to vehicles but pedestrians can enter Park via both the “outsides or sidewalks” of the bridge. Instead of entering the park through the bridge an alternative Tram service is available to provide access to the park via the Inspiration Point parking lot at Tram Central, a shady arbor with benches. The tram will transport you into the heart of Balboa Park. (Stages: 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F.) STAGE 1: State Route 163 Closures. Timeline: August 5, 2013 through August 8, 2013. Areas Impacted: State Route 163 main lanes of traffic. Access: One lane will be closed to freeway through traffic and all the work will be conducted at night.
