CSDCI is making efforts to attract more workers to come forward and make the most of the opportunities available through it.

A sector specific Rozgar Mela (Job Fair) was held on 30th October 2018 organisedby CSDCI in Guwahati, as part of a Skill India initiatives with a vision to empowerand provide employment opportunity to the Youth of Assam. The Job Melaattracted prospective employers from Bangalore, Gujarat, Assam, Noida,Gurgaon who came to hire candidates for the Construction industry in theirregions. While selecting the candidates, interviews were conducted and theirresumes, 10th & 12th Mark sheet and skill / technical Certificate were alsosought. Candidates were given jobs according to their skills and education. 105certified candidates participated in the Mela and 85 were shortlisted by thesecompanies for jobs in their organizations. The organizations which attendedincluded Reliable First Pvt. Ltd, Stiebel Eltron, Terron Construction and Fast SkillsPvt. Ltd.

CSDCI Participated in release of report on Skilling India by NCAER and attended the Panel Discussion moderated by Dr. K .P. Krishnan, Secretary, MSDE on 30th October. Report offers a framework for policymakers and practitioners to use to design, execute and evaluate skilling pathways that can help break the cycle of poor skilling and slow creation of good jobs— the low-skilling trap that India is caught in.

A roundtable conference was organised by PwC to identify the current gaps and future demand in different skill categories in the Construction sector. The department for International Development (DFID)- Government of United Kingdom and CSDCI hosted a round table conference on ‘Skilling in Construction Sector’ along with Construction Industry members at India International Centre, New Delhi on 1st November. Senior Members from various organisation in Construction Industry such as Larsen & Turbo, Tata Projects, Simplex Infrastructure, GMR, Oriental Structural Engineers among others participated. The participants shared the skilling Needs of the industry and the future demand with advent of technology and mechanization in construction sector and discussed practical solutions and intervention relevant to the growing demands of the industry. CEO, CSDCI spoke on the initiatives taken by CSDCI in different areas and emphasized that such workshop will work as a platform for employers and sector skill councils to be responsive to the ground situation , learn from each other and understand the changing demand of competencies in construction. He also stressed on participation of industry as a key driver for enhancing the skilling program in India. The Industry members exchanged their experiences, learning and success stories in upgrading skill sets in their companies.

A technical session focusing on Skill Development in Tripura in collaboration withIndustries & Commerce (Skill Development) Department, Government of Tripuraand NITI Aayog held on 3rd November was attended by Regional Manager, CSDCI.The session focused on identifying the challenges and guiding in development ofroadmap to strengthen the skill ecosystem in the state.
