In 2014, the ARCADIS Global Disputes Survey identified failures to understand and implement contracts as 2 major causes of disputes. Something needs to be done, but what? The modern construction industry is crying out for a solution which avoids contracts becoming speed-bumps in a fast-paced industry. This seminar considers issues such as: Why don’t we read our contracts? Is plain language relevant or necessary? How do we use contracts? As a project handbook or a safety-net? Is trust improved by shorter or longer contracts? Can a 500-Word Contract help the industry? Key Speaker: Sarah Fox Sarah is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Salford and Author of the 500-Word™ Contract. As a solicitor with Eversheds, she spent 15 years advising clients on contracts from bonds and guarantees, to letters of intent, to large multi-million pound development contracts and PFI flow-downs.
