CHORALEA CONTINUING TRADITIONOF EXCELLENCE

Elizabeth Grant founded the Conservatory Chorale in 1981 to provide a vehicle for pursuing choral excellence for children inWestern Manitoba.

Grant is a native of Nova Scotia and holds Associateship Diplomas in Piano Performance from both the Royal Conservatory ofMusic and the Maritime Conservatory. She has had a long standing connection with Brandon University where she received aBachelor of Music degree (Voice Performance), a Kodaly Music Education Specialist Certificate, and a Master of Music degree(Music Education).

Grant has been Music Director at First Presbyterian Church in Brandon since 1972, has adjudicated extensively from Vancouverto Halifax, and is a popular clinician at local, provincial and national events.

She is the recipient of the YWCA’s Woman of Distinction Award for the Arts, the International Rotary Club’s Paul Harris Fellowshipfor her contribution to community life, the Manitoba Choral Association Peace Garden Award, The Brandon University Excellencein Teaching Award, the Governor General's Queen's Jubilee Commemorative Medal, an Honorary Doctorate in Music fromBrandon University in 2009, and an Honorary Life Membership in the Manitoba Choral Association in 2011.

The Conservatory Chorale is an Internationally recognized choral program with over 100 voices ages five and up fromthroughout South-Western Manitoba.

Chorale members develop vocal and choral skills in choirs where the highest possible artistic standards are achieved.

Singing in Chorale develops musical sensitivity and responsiveness, musical literacy, appreciation for a wide variety of thehighest quality choral repertoire, personal motivation, self-discipline, and teamwork.

The choirs perform extensively both nationally and internationally and have consistently won acclaim at all levels.

The Chamber Choir, our most experienced and disciplined singers, has performed as a major touring group throughoutCanada, the United States, Great Britain, France and Italy.

The Brandon Conservatory Chorale Board (BCC) is a vital executive arm of the Chorale Program. Volunteers make theteam complete by:

• helping to implement the program’s artistic and educational goals, as well as sharing responsibilities as supporters,organizers, and supervisors.

• initiating community and corporate fund-raising to support Chorale activities outside the rehearsal hall.

Chorale members sing with enthusiasm, welcomechallenges, and have a keen desire to achieveexcellence and experience the joy of shared musicmaking. Singers develop musical friendships based onthe common pursuit of shared values and goals.

Auditions are held during April for returning students.Auditions for new choristers are held in May and June. Allmembers are eligible for consideration for the AtsedeHobbs Memorial Special Awards Fund. No auditionsare required for Bel Canto singers. Each choir rehearsesweekly at the Queen Elizabeth II Music Building atBrandon University.

Practices are held weekly in Room 1-57 in the QueenElizabeth II Music Building at Brandon University.

Chamber Choir starts with camp September 1 - 3, 2015.
