More than 350 partners joined their principal counterparts on December 8 for a day of service as Principal TODAY. Principal TODAY continues Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ annual tradition of engaging business/community leaders to serve as school principals. SAVE THE DATE! NATIONAL COLLEGE FAIR COMES TO MIAMI, FEB. 26, 2017 - PRE-REGISTER ONLINE NOW!

Representatives from nearly 200 colleges and universities will be at the 2017 Miami National College Fair – on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, to meet with students and parents on subjects such as financial aid, college planning, admission, and testing requirements.

The Fair, which has free admission, will be held from 12 - 4 p.m., at the DoubleTree Miami Mart Airport Hotel & Convention Center, 777 N.W. 72nd Ave., Miami, FL 33126. Parking is $5, cash only.

Informational sessions will be presented in Spanish and Haitian Creole. A Counseling Center also will be available to allow students and their parents the opportunity to talk with trained professionals regarding college preparation, admissions and scholarships.

Requesting information from multiple colleges/universities at the College Fair just got easier. By pre-registering, students can print a bar-coded confirmation to be used at the Fair as an electronic ID. Students can pre-register at www.gotomyncf.com

FELDMAN, PÉREZ CHOSEN TO LEAD MIAMI-DADE SCHOOL BOARD

Dr. Lawrence S. Feldman has been elected as Chair of the Miami-Dade County School Board for the 2016-2017 school year. Dr. Feldman, who represents District 9, originally was elected to the School Board in 2008. He has previously served as Vice Chair in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014.

Dr. Marta Pérez was elected as Vice Chair. Dr. Pérez, who represents District 8, was first elected to the School Board in 1998. She previously served as Vice Chair in 2008.

Board Members Susie Castillo, Dr. Feldman, Lubby Navarro and Dr. Martin Karp were sworn in to represent District 5, 9, 7 and 3, respectively. Dr. Steve Gallon III and Mari Tere Rojas were newly sworn in as Board Members for Districts 1 and 6 respectively.

Representantes de casi 200 universidades se darán cita en la Feria Nacional Universitaria de Miami 2017 (2017 National College Fair), el domingo, 26 de febrero del 2017, con estudiantes, padres de familia y brindarles información de ayuda financiera, la planificación de estudios universitarios, el ingreso a las universidades y las pruebas requeridas.

La feria es gratuita y tendrá lugar desde el mediodía hasta las 4 p.m., en el Doubletree Miami Mart Airport Hotel & Convention Center, 777 N.W. 72 Ave., Miami, FL. 33126. El costo del estacionamiento es de cinco dólares en efectivo.

Dr. Lawrence S. Feldman ha sido elegido como Presidente de la Junta Escolar del Condado Miami-Dade para el 2016-2017. Dr. Feldman, que representa el Distrito 9, fue elegido por primera vez a la Junta Escolar en el 2008. Sirvió como Vicepresidente en el 2010, 2011, 2013 y 2014.

La Dra. Marta Pérez fue elegida Vicepresidenta. La Dra. Pérez que representa el Distrito 8, fue elegida por primera vez a la Junta Escolar en el 1998. En el 2008, sirvió como Vicepresidenta.

Los miembros de la Junta Escolar Susie Castillo, Dr. Feldman, Lubby Navarro y Dr. Martin Karp fueron juramentados para representar los distritos 5, 9, 7 y 3, respectivamente. Dr. Steve Gallon III y Mari Tere Rojas recién fueron juramentados como miembros de la Junta para los Distritos 1 y 6 respectivamente.
