• Declare name of new TopSURV job. The fields of “Created By” and “Comments” are optional. Afterwards, tap NEXT.

• Lastly, the “Alarms” option is user specific. Shown above are recommended settings. Tap the FINISH button at top center to create new TopSURV job.

• Once at the TopSURV main menu establish communication to your TopconOnce at the TopSURV main menu, establish communication to your Topcon GR-3 receiver with either an RS-232 (9 pin) serial cable or via Bluetooth.

• From the main menu, go to “SURVEY / STATUS”. At the top left corner, tap the grey box and select “CONFIGURE MODEM”.

“C f ”• At the “Configure Modem” screen, notice the red colored icon at the top center. This red icon with broken arrows is an indicator that the cell modem in your GR-3 receiver is not on the internet at the moment.T h d l d (i i ) i• Tap the red colored (internet connection) icon at top center.

• On the “Internet Connection” screen, tap the CONNECT button to send commands to the T-Mobile SIM card in the Topcon GR-3 receiver. Afterwards, tap OK to continue.p

• At top center, the broken red arrows (showing that you are not currently on the internet) will turn green in color and arrows pointing left and right. Once arrows are green, you are on the internet.

• Select appropriate “Mount Point” and tap the CONNECT button to begin workingSelect appropriate Mount Point and tap the CONNECT button to begin working within the Albuquerque Real Time GNSS Network (ARTGN).

• On the “Status” screen, tap the SYSTEM tab to see progress.

• Notice the “Radio Link” indicator. Once you ysee 100%, you are receiving real time corrections from the Albuquerque Real Time GNSS Network (ARTGN) server.

• Next, glance at both the “Common Satellites” and “Initialized Satellites” counts. Most important is the number of Initialized Satellites.

• Once you have FIVE or more Initialized Satellites, you will instantly be in a FIXED solution and ready to work.

• To add or confirm TopSURV settings for becoming a member of the Albuquerque Real Time GNSS Network (ARTGN), go to JOB / CONFIG / SURVEYSURVEY.

• To the right of the GPS+ Configuration pull down, tap the triple dot button. If you have an existing configuration and want to verify settings, highlight existing configuration and tap EDIT.existing configuration and tap EDIT.

• Otherwise, tap the ADD button.

• Name the configuration “GR-3 NET” and ensure to select a survey type of “Network RTK” with corrections format of “VRS”.

• The choice of Elevation Mask is a user defined option. However, ten degrees is the recommended default setting.

• Select the network connection protocol of “NTRIP” and tap NEXT.p p

• Ensure to use the quick release that came with the GR-3 system kit. Makes things easier.

• When the GR-3 pole is snapped to the preset p pp pheight of 1.782 meters (5.847 feet) and quick release screwed on top, the vertical height to the GR-3 receiver’s Antenna Reference Point is then 1.829 meters (6.000 feet).
