Connecting Essay 5 This is an image which I took myself, this is one of my favourite images from my whole project. I used Photoshop to edit this image to how I wanted it, using techniques such as the clone tool and the rubber tool I was able to create this surreal effect within the eye. The image inside the eye is an image I took from another shoot, it’s of a water reflection, however I thought it would look good inside the eye. I like this image a lot because I like the surreal spooky effect it gives off. I used the paintbrush tool to edit the eye underneath to make it look spookier; I think the eye also looks like it’s looking up which adds to the effect. I also like how the eyelashes are short because this makes it look more natural and not over the top, which was the look, I was trying to go for. This is an image which I found online, I like this image a lot because I think this is quite spooky and surreal, therefore being similar to mine. I like the angle the image has been taken at because this makes the eye look like it is directly facing the viewer which makes them stay more focused on the image. I like how the whole image is in black and white and then the image in the pupil is in colour. This looks more attractive and interesting and I definitely think it catches you attention more. I also like how the top of the image is a bit blurred, and then the rest is in focus, this exaggerates the detail around the eye, foe example you can see the little wrinkles in this skin, which I think looks effective and natural. These two images can be linked together because they are both portraying the same sort of surreal effect. Also I think they are both are quite spooky which is why I think they link together well. They both have an image within an image, which is based around the same theme. Trees and water can put under the semantic field of nature, which is why they can be linked, these could also be related to spooky things and horror. The only difference is the colours and the fact that mine has been edited a bit more than the one from the Internet. Although I like how mine has been made to look scary I wish I had kept it a little bit more natural now as I would have liked to have the wrinkle effect on this skin because this could make the image look more effective and scary.
