In this edition we have portrayedthe precautionary measures undertaken at the mill to curb covid-19, achievements of the 1st quarter and othernoteworthy developments.

Resilience, Solidarity and Humanity!

When I started thinking about writing this note; it was to commemorate our 34th Anniversary and Ihad intended to highlight the milestones achieved and all those crucial steps we have accomplishedalong the way with the help of our stakeholders.

However, in the wake of the pandemic coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis that continues to evolve and isprevailing all over the world, the uncertainty and chaos globally is all that encompasses my thoughtstoday.

The business community is witnessing an unexpected wave of paradigm shift as the virus hastriggered a jolt to our globalized way of working; forcing us all to reevaluate our value chains andcherish the interdependence we have all come to take for granted over the years. We as cogs in thischain need to be resilient and provide foundation support for the faltering economic conditions.

In such trying times, I assure that the health and well-being of our employees is our top priority. Al-Karam Textile Mills is taking every possible step inside the mill and within nearby community to helpour employeesand other stakeholders emerge stronger.This crisis is larger than individual efforts; we as a nation need to play our part and together we shallsurface victorious!

SAFETY MEASURES IMPLEMENTED AT ALKARAM TEXTILE MILLS

In January 2020 the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of a newcoronavirus disease to be a Public Health Emergency of international concern. WHO stated thereis a high risk of the disease spreading to other countries around the world. Putting the well-beingand safety of its people first, Alkaram Textile Mills has undertaken some drastic preventivemeasures and is playing a vital role in helping employeesand communities emerge stronger.

Bio-metric to card based attendance

Thermal scanners for virus detection and isolation rooms for people with symptoms

Posters / awareness sessions & videos / announcements for maintaining Hygiene

Dis-infection tunnels

More than 20,000 masks distributed / No entry in the mill without masks.

Installation of hand sanitizers

Installation of wash basins Office sanitation Ensuring social distancing at workplace including departments, vans, canteens etc.

FIRE HOSE INSTALLED AT AK2Mr. Fawad Anwar, Managing Director,Alkaram Textile Mills (Pvt) Ltdinaugurated the newly installed fullyautomatic fire pump system by HSE / Firedepartment at Alkaram (AK2 Facility).The pumps function at a capacity of 500gallon/min at 08 bar.

EMERGENCY EVACUATION DRILLHSE Department successfully arrangedEmergency Evacuation Drill, with CivilDefence approved Trainer in both (Day& Night) shifts of all manufacturingfacilities of Alkaram Textile Mills (Pvt)Limited.

The purpose of Fire Evacuation drill wasto ensure that everyone is aware of howto exit safely as quickly as possible if afire, smoke or any other emergencyoccurs.
