The Visionary Leader ACTION 1: Leaders connect THE WHY. When Jesus gave his followers the instruction to go make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20), he was telling them what to do. He even told them how to do it, by baptizing them and teaching them everything Jesus had commanded. However, the thing that drove both what and how, was really the why. Jesus had told his followers that he had come so that they may have life and have it to the full (John 10:10). He showed them that he in fact defeated death through the resurrection. That means that he had all authority on heaven and earth. The gospel served as the WHY and the WHY is what motivated the disciples to act.. Core Competency: Develop the ability to CONNECT THE WHY in order to INSPIRE action and ownership. At the end of the video We follow those who lead not because we have to, but because we want to. How have you seen this leadership principle impact peoples spiritual lives? APPLY Take time to look at the Golden circle. Find an area of your life where you are currently leading in some capacity (spiritually, family, job, team, etc.). Answer the questions from the Golden Circle for that area of leadership. Do the people you lead understand the why? Make a commitment to communicate the why with the people you lead and also with your huddle.
