1) Introduction CONNECT is the public art programme for the 3Ts Redevelopment of the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) in Brighton. CONNECT has appointed photographer Helen Sear to undertake the major photography commission. We now seek to commission three further photographers to create photography-based artworks for all 36 waiting rooms within the new hospital development. The aim of the photography commissioning strand of the CONNECT programme is to create an extensive series of original artworks by photographers, inspired by the region and the hospital’s locality. ‘Connect with Place’ is the overarching theme. This presents an opportunity for artistic explorations of four different photography sub-themes which are: Sussex, South Downs, Brighton and Coast; each inspired by the geographic character of where the hospital is located; and the groups and relevant communities who are part of these areas. The vision is that the resulting photographs arising from the commissions will be original and thoughtful in their approach to the themes and provide a stimulating and engaging series of images for staff, patients and visitors using the waiting areas for years to come. It’s important to note that the photography commissions are not temporary exhibitions within the waiting areas, but integral to the entire experience of the waiting areas. They will be in place for years to come and so selected images need to work with the passage of time. The thematics of Sussex, South Downs, Brighton and Coast are intended to create an essence and sense of place that connects patients to themselves and the wider world around them, providing a source of contemplation and pleasure during times of stress, distress or discomfort whilst at the Hospital. We therefore envisage photographic projects that go beyond a documentary response and instead convey the experience and understanding of the spirit of place gained by the photographer through their research of the relevant localities and their contact and involvement with local communities/groups. The commissioners expect artists to suggest their approach to working with different types of communities as part of their proposal and how this will inform their artistic idea for the commission. This process would then be agreed by the Photography Steering Group. Photoworks would also help each artist to negotiate the process of working with different communities as part of the commission development. It is envisaged that the themes will inform ideas around a sense and experience of place within each photography commission. It is expected that the photography commissions will be high quality work, authored by the artist, reflecting best practice, not only through the content of the images, but also how the work has been developed as part of the commissioning process. Three of the commissions, South Downs, Brighton and Coast, present a particular opportunity for artists to make contact with particular groups due to the localised nature of the theme.

The commissioners are seeking photographers who can demonstrate an original/creative sensibility that meets the artistic potential of the briefs, combined with a pragmatism and ability to fully understand the clinical context within which the photographs are to be experienced. There are necessary constraints to the photography commissions including, amongst other, key considerations: - carefully selected image content that is suited to clinical and very often stressful contexts - image content should stand the test of time e.g. portraits of individuals and specific photographs of buildings/landmarks should be avoided as they date too quickly. - commissions will need to work effectively with the architecture, interior design and clinical function of the designated waiting areas more generally. The commissioners seek photographers who are both ambitious and mindful about such constraints as well as excited about the powerful role of photography in a public context such as this and the positive impact it can have: - commissions will have a positive impact in helping to create a strong sense of place and identity within the new hospital. - commissions will help create spaces that contribute to a sense of well-being generally. - commissions will help patients, visitors and staff feel a sense of connection to the world around them and to places and things relevant to their lives. We envisage that these commissions will be exemplar in impact and demonstrate the important role of art in healthcare environments on a national/international level. The photography project commissioning process commenced in Spring 2017 with the appointment of the major Photography Commission. The major commission is on the theme of Sussex has been geared towards a well-established practitioner, due to the geographic scope of the thematic and broader research process that will be required and the additional roles expected from this main commission. Helen Sear (www.helensear.com) has been successfully appointed as this major commission role.’ We are now seeking to appoint three further commissions on the themes of South Downs, Brighton and Coast, which each pose potential for involvement with targeted communities due to the specifics of the theme. We would expect photographers who apply to demonstrate a strong interest/experience in this aspect of the commission as part of their application proposal.

The location for each of the commissions is within the new hospital development at the RSCH which has four zones each served by a vertical lift/stair core (three in the Stage One Building and one in the Stage Two Building). Each of the four commissions has been allocated a particular zone and will create work for the waiting rooms accessed from its lift core. Photographers for the three commissions on the theme of Brighton, Coast and South Downs are being selected through a national open call for proposals. The closing date for the applications is Midnight GMT Wednesday 1 November 2017. For more information about the 3Ts art programme CONNECT please visit the programme’s website https://www.bsuh.nhs.uk/connectartsbrighton/ The roles will be managed by Photoworks on behalf of Willis Newson and the Photography Project Steering Group (PSG) who report to the Joint Arts Group for the CONNECT Public Art Programme.

2) BACKGROUND The 3Ts Redevelopment The 3Ts Redevelopment of the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) will replace all the buildings on the front of the main hospital site. It will happen in three stages and take nine years to complete. This will ensure the hospital and all its clinical services can continue to run throughout the redevelopment. The Stage 1 Building will be built on the south-east quarter of the RSCH site. At the same time a helideck will be constructed on top of the Thomas Kemp Tower. The Stage 2 Building will take up the south-west quarter of the site. Both buildings will replace thirteen existing buildings, including the Barry Building- the oldest inpatient ward block in England. There is an overwhelming need to replace them with modern facilities which are welcoming, accessible and purpose-built for the provision of 21st century healthcare. The 3Ts stand for Trauma, Teaching and Tertiary (specialist) Care. The project benefits are not limited to these areas though, but will improve conditions for patients and staff in more than 40 wards and departments.

Stage 1 Building - Outpatient, inpatient and specialist services The Stage 1 redevelopment will offer: ● New inpatient accommodation to replace the Barry and Jubilee Buildings, with more than five times as much space per bed ● An expanded Regional Centre for Neurosciences to allow more patients with neurological conditions and injuries to be treated closer to home ● Facilities to support the hospital’s role as the region’s Major Trauma Centre ● Improved teaching facilities Stage 2 Building – Cancer Centre; Research & Medical School The Stage 2 Building will house: ● The new and expanded Sussex Cancer Centre, including more specialist inpatient beds, more spaces for chemotherapy and more linear accelerators for radiotherapy located together in a single building ● Additional facilities for research and training in partnership with the Brighton & Sussex Medical School, including the clinical trials unit (CIRU). CONNECT: 3Ts Hospital Redevelopment Public Art Programme The 3Ts Redevelopment will be a world-class health facility, with not only exceptional clinical care but also an environment that maximises patient recovery and significantly improves the experience for visitors and carers.

There are established benefits to including art in hospitals for patients, visitors and local communities. Clinical research shows that enhancing the hospital building has a positive effect on reducing patient and visitor anxiety, helping the recovery process and reducing the need for pain relief medication. CONNECT is the 3Ts Hospital Redevelopment Public Art Programme. CONNECT will bring the arts into the new hospital to create a healing environment that is welcoming, therapeutic and restful. The Public Art Programme will help create a strong and welcoming identity for the Hospital, and reflect the culture and identity of the local community. The arts programme will provide a legacy to the city by building a link between the local population and the hospital; and providing a public place to view art from internationally renowned and emerging artists some of whom will be based in the region. The Public Art Programme is a condition of the planning permission granted by Brighton City Council that formally stipulates a commitment to integrate art into the new development. CONNECT Overview The Photography commissions form part of CONNECT. The CONNECT Public Art Programme includes a range of art commissions, projects and programmes taking place over the next 6 years to enhance the quality of environment and patient experience within the new hospital. CONNECT covers 5 strands of work: 1. BUILD: Artworks integrated into the build process in welcome spaces, the sanctuary and roof gardens.

2. INTERIORS: The work of local and national artists will be woven into the interiors in treatment rooms, quiet rooms, oncology and more.

3. PARTNERSHIPS: Partnerships with local arts organisations, community groups and photographers will result in photographic artworks for waiting rooms.

4. HERITAGE: The heritage of the site will be celebrated in the new building with a History Wall and participatory arts projects. 5. ONGOING: The Public Art Programme will act as a catalyst for further development of Onward Arts, creating an infrastructure within which the arts can play an active role in the life of the Trust.

The CONNECT Delivery Partners CONNECT is being delivered by arts consultants Willis Newson in partnership with Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust and the Trust’s ongoing arts programme Onward Arts, architects BDP and construction partner Laing O’Rourke.

The CONNECT team is working closely with partners and stakeholders across the city and county including Brighton and Hove City Council, University of Brighton and Photoworks.

Onward Arts Onward Arts is the ongoing arts programme for BSUH. Through the use of the arts, they seek to improve the experience of patients, visitors and staff and create a healing hospital environment for all. CONNECT will act as a catalyst and resource to support the development of Onward Arts, the Trust’s ongoing arts programme. The inclusive approach to commissioning, partnership projects, and the programming of festivals celebrating creativity and wellbeing on the opening of Stage 1 and Stage 2 buildings will develop relationships with the local community and with local arts organisations from which the future arts programme can continue to build and benefit. Commissioned artworks integrated into the hospital building will create a welcoming and reassuring physical environment, while dedicated spaces for exhibition, artist residencies, workshops and events will encourage the engagement of the community in arts activities which support wellbeing and healthy lifestyles in partnership with the communities the hospital serves. Joint Arts Group A Joint Arts Group (JAG) has been set up to provide leadership and direction as well as effective decision-making for the CONNECT arts programme. The JAG was set up in 2011 and has already overseen the development of the Public Art Strategy and the delivery of the commissions developed to date. The JAG will continue to oversee the delivery of the CONNECT arts programme at all the stages of the development process until completion. Willis Newson is working with BSUH to support the integration of art into the 3Ts Redevelopment of the Royal Sussex County Hospital. They are responsible for managing the CONNECT programme. Willis Newson is the UK’s leading arts consultancy working in health and social care contexts. It delivers inspiring, individual and inclusive arts programmes that improve wellbeing and quality of life. It has particular expertise in the field of public art commissioning and the design of health and social care environments.

Photography Steering Group (PSG) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the delivery of the Photography Commissions as part of the 3Ts Redevelopment Public Art Programme. Membership includes Photoworks, 3Ts Change Consultant (BSUH), Willis Newson, University of Brighton, main commission photographer and a patient/clinical representative. The group oversees the strategic, content, engagement, evaluation, communications and fundraising planning related to the project. Photoworks is leading on the project management of the photography commissions and is the main point of contact for the photographers. Photoworks is a national development agency for photography. Photoworks' programme includes commissions, new writing, learning and engagement and major projects including the national Jerwood/Photoworks Awards, Photoworks Annual and Brighton Photo Biennial. Photoworks connect outstanding artists with audiences and champion talent and ambition. Photoworks is a charitable organisation based at the University of Brighton, UK and is a National Portfolio Organisation supported by Arts Council England. University of Brighton has a city centre campus near the RSCH. The School of Media on Edward Street hosts a range of photography and related visual media courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and with a rich and diverse set of scholarly interests and expertise across the teaching staff and professoriate. As part of the main photography commission, there will be opportunities for the students to be involved in a live brief and mentoring programme. Additionally there is discussion around specific modules at the University incorporating some of the learning opportunities that the Connect with Place programme presents. This might include research and learning projects, activities and exhibitions for example. Specifics will be developed and agreed alongside the commissioning programme development.

3) Approach to commissioning thematics

The photography commissioning themes are related to wider thematics of the CONNECT Public Art Programme.

Connect Themes The theme of the 3Ts Public Art programme is ‘Connect’. The 3Ts Public Art Programme will foster connections between the Hospital and the neighbourhoods, towns, villages and landscapes of Brighton and Sussex, between people, between communities, between hospital departments, between the past heritage and present achievements of Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust - in order to encourage a sense of belonging and community.

The theme of ‘Connect’ will be interpreted in four different ways:

Connect the Hospital • Connect communities, departments and people within the hospital • Connect the past and present of the hospital • Connect journeys through the hospital

Connect the Community • Ways of connecting such as food and storytelling • Places that encourage people to connect • Community connections that support wellbeing

Connect with Nature • Coastal and countryside landscapes, flora and fauna • Nature and its connections with well-being • Connecting with Nature through the senses

Connect with Place • Connecting diverse communities of Greater Brighton • Connecting across Brighton and Sussex • Connecting the hospital to parts of the city

Wayfinding Commission Themes The theme ‘Connect with Place’ has been further divided into four wayfinding themes - tangible and recognisable places particular to the area that will provide rich and diverse illustrative content for the four lift cores in the development: ● Brighton ● Sussex ● Coast ● South Downs

Each of these themes has been allocated to one of the 4 lift cores within the buildings. As part of a separate commission, artists and illustrators are being commissioned to create architectural-scale wall works to be sited at key junctions at lift cores and departmental entrances.

Wayfinding leads people to different areas of the hospital including 36 waiting areas.

Visitors exiting from the lifts will be greeted with large commissioned artworks (illustrations) which will help orientate them within the building and create an attractive journey for visitors around the hospital.

Photography Commission Themes: Sussex, Brighton, Coast and South Downs

Since the waiting rooms in which the photography commissions will be placed are sited in each of the four lift cores, four sub themes have been selected for the Photography Commissions which link back to the wayfinding themes.

The Photography Commission themes are all based on the idea of sense and experience of place and are Sussex, Brighton, Coast and South Downs.

The visual content for the photography commissions will be created by inviting four photographers to create original artwork in direct response to these themes in an original way.

Stage 1 (completion 2020) Sussex Brighton Coast

Stage 2 (completion 2023/24 TBC) South Downs

As such, these photography commissions’ themes could map against the wayfinding themes as follows:

● Lift Core 1 Stage 1 Wayfinding theme: Town/Brighton (recognisable, nameable landmarks from the city of Brighton). Photography Theme: Sense of Place: Brighton Possible Community links for example could be: Brighton Festivals, Pride, Independent traders etc.

● Lift Core 2, Stage 1 Wayfinding theme: Sussex (Sussex landmarks taken initial list of places from consultation exercise) Photography Theme: Sense of Place: Sussex Possible Community links: e.g. Fence making, bonfire, local traditions, craft and knowledge etc. ● Lift Core 3, Stage 1 Wayfinding theme: Coast (Coastal landmarks across Sussex) Photography Theme: Sense of Place: Coast Possible Community links could be for example: Paddle Round The Pier, Brighton Swimming Club, Brighton Swimming Centre etc. ● Lift Core 3, Stage 2 Wayfinding theme: The South Downs (single commission to run up through central spine of building) Photography Theme: Sense of Place: South Downs Possible Community links could be for example: walking for health groups running, cycling, hang gliding, or riding the downs etc.

5) The Photography Commissions Outlines Commission 1 – Stage 1, Lift Core 2; Theme: Sussex This commission has been awarded to Helen Sear. Helen Sear studied Fine Art at Reading University and University College London, Slade School, her practice coming to prominence in the late 1980s, when she worked primarily through installation, performance and film. Her photographic works became widely known in the 1991 British Council exhibition, De-Composition: Constructed Photography in Britain, which toured Latin America and Eastern Europe. She continues to explore ideas of vision, touch, and the representation of the nature of experience with particular reference to the human and animal body and her immediate environment in rural Wales and France. Sear was the first woman to represent Wales with a solo exhibition at the 56th Venice Biennale 2015. Ffotogallery Wales published her first major monograph, Inside The View, in 2012. Brisées was published by GOST 2013, accompanying the major national tour Lure in the same year. She is currently working with the Forestry Commission in Dalby and Crescent Arts Scarborough, developing her Wales in Venice exhibition with a new video work that will premier in May 2018. Solo exhibitions will show at Martin Asbaek gallery, Copenhagen in January 2018 and Hestercombe House, Devon in July 2018. helensear.com @Helen_Sear This major commission for the project, Sear brings a breadth of experience and skill to interpret the brief and its familiar thematic in an original way. This commission also has a breadth geographically and requires considerable research as it is county-wide in scope. A well-established photographer, Helen brings decades of experience in working in a range of environments and across different public contexts within which to develop and present work. As the major commission Helen will also act as ‘the face’ of the project, with her proven ability and experience to help develop and advise on the other three commissions and wider programme potential with the PSG and also act as mentor to University of Brighton students involved in a live brief.

  15

Open Call commissions opportunity : Brighton, Coast and South Downs Three further commissions are based on themes of Brighton, Coast and South Downs and are each suited to photographers who are excited about a single theme and can approach it in an original way, avoiding visual cliches so often associated with the places. Photographers should demonstrate at least three years professional experience in working successfully in a range of environments and ideally in different public contexts within which to develop and present work. Each commission requires a photographer who has a strong interest in a particular theme, the context within which this work will be developed and an ability to work collegiately with the other commissioned photographers and the PSG. We are looking for distinctive approaches to the open call commissions that complement the major photographers practice - we are not seeking to commission similar approaches - but aim to generate a significant body of new work across all the waiting rooms that offers diverse photographic sensibilities. The applications are open to photographers across the UK, however, we encourage applications from photographers resident in the Sussex/SE region and ask applicants who live further away from the area to consider carefully if they can commit to the time, travel and accommodation required as part of the project development and which is included within the commissioning fee of £6,400 These three commissions require research and an agreed approach to engagement with agreed communities, therefore demonstrable experience and an aptitude for this form of contact with groups and communities is essential as part of the application proposal. As a steer, we anticipate a minimum of 32 days work on the project, with at least 50% of this time allocated to making the work, the other half spent on key aspects of project development and delivery to support the making of the work. Open Call commission’s role: − Make the work, this includes research, field work and obtaining permissions where required − Participate in project briefings as required and research community contacts − Develop commission ideas with engagement/contact with communities − Consult with hospital staff as required by PSG − Participate in communications and attend key production and installation meetings − Participate and contribute as speaker at talks, events or workshops as required-Participate in PR, marketing and project advocacy needs − Contribute to evaluation

  16

Commission 1 - Stage 1, Lift Core 1; Theme: Brighton Fee: £6,400 Make photography based work for installation across eight Waiting rooms across most levels of this hospital zone. Waiting rooms include Non Invasive cardiology, Neurosciences Outpatients, Fracture Clinic, Acute Medical Unit (ward), Critical Care Unit, Medical Ward, Medical Ward & Medical Day Unit and Stroke Ward. Patient needs in these areas are varied and extensive. Outpatients attend for diagnosis, treatment and review of acute, long-term or progressive conditions, with a wide age range of patients. Waiting rooms can be fast or slow turnover areas depending on the type of clinic. Patients may have mobility problems, degenerative conditions, cognitive impairments, and a high-risk of mortality. High anxiety areas include the Critical Care Unit where families find themselves in distressing and alarming high-tech environments and often for extended periods that can leave them feeling disempowered. They would not want to associate experience with particular landmarks so work needs to provide visual interest and should be distracting, humanising and convey confidence in expertise of care-givers. Outpatient tests may be physically demanding and often involve repeat visits. Neuroscience patients come from across Sussex and may have cognitive or sensory impairments, where visual work cannot be too demanding, visually over complex and therefore confuse. Fracture Clinic is a very busy department with a high turnover and wide age range. Avoid fast, high paced imagery or objects such as cars that could have caused major injuries and therefore trauma. Commission 2– Stage 1, Lift Core 3; Theme: Coast Fee: £6,400 Make photography based work for installation across nine waiting rooms across five floor levels in this zone. Waiting rooms include ENT, Maxillofacial & Audiology, Nuclear Medicine, CIS Outpatients, Medical Ward and Neurosurgery Ward. Patient needs are similar to those for Lift Core 2 (above) with some additions. Outpatients may have high levels of sensory loss, often be elderly, and frequently facing a potential cancer diagnosis. Nuclear Medicine requires lots of waiting in restricted areas due to receiving a radioactive dose, therefore need to provide sense of space and escape for patients. Other departments require discretion and a non-clinical environment for patients with HIV.

Page 17: CONNECT photography commission brief Sep17photoworks-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/... · opportunity for artistic explorations of four different photography sub-themes which

  17

Commission 3 – Stage 2, Lift Core 4; Theme: South Downs Fee: £6,400 This commission will be developed in the same timeframe to the other commissions, but final installation of the project is in Stage 2 of the 3Ts development, currently estimated to be 2023/24. Waiting rooms in this zone are ten across three floor levels: Radiotherapy, CIRU, Oncology Outpatients. Radiotherapy includes longer and repeat visits in a largely treatment rather than diagnostic area. It can be intimidating with a highly technological environment and restricted views through moulds and masks sometimes worn by patients. CIRU involves clinical trials for both healthy and unhealthy patients (e.g cancer patients participating in drug trials). It should feel like an optimistic space focused on the future. Oncology Outpatients requires a sense of confidence in quality of care where people may receive difficult news and a cancer diagnosis. It is important to avoid imprinting - where an image in the waiting room will forever remind them of a bad experience e.g. where bad news is received.

6) The Photographers’ Roles Briefing and Induction In the execution of each commission, the photographers will be expected to attend briefing sessions to gain a clearer understanding of the larger CONNECT Arts Programme, the patient and clinical context, the requirements of the brief, the possible production methods and the overall hospital redevelopment plan. Research, Development and Consultation Each photographer is expected to research the specific photography themes with a view to understanding how these might work with the clinical needs and demands of each waiting room environment that has been selected for each commission. Awareness is also required of the wider photography commissions and themes to avoid duplication and also sensitivity to the overall commissioning brief. More detailed information will be provided at briefing sessions during the commissioning process including the types of patients and visitors using each space that will be viewing the work. This will provide a wider understanding of the clinical contexts within which the commissions will be eventually installed and of which the photographers should be mindful as they develop the commission. A basic outline of patients and visitors needs is provided for each waiting area in this brief. The specifics and scope of how photographic imagery arising from the commissions will be installed in each area will be discussed at briefing sessions and as the commission progresses. Communities and a sense of place Each proposal for the photography commissions should aim to reflect a strong sense of place relevant to the specific theme as well as convey a sense of the diverse communities or groups who live, work and use the locations described in the thematic and that are relevant to the location of the hospital. The PSG is interested in proposals that convey the spirit of place and people’s experience of place in relation to the themes in an original way that is not simply landscape or landmark photography, portraits or documentation of events. It is anticipated that authorship of the work remains with the commissioned photographer and is not co-authored with the communities. It is therefore expected that the process of research undertaken by the photographer(s) would be informed by contact with selected communities who would inform and inspire ideas for the photography commission in relation to the theme.

Page 19: CONNECT photography commission brief Sep17photoworks-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/... · opportunity for artistic explorations of four different photography sub-themes which

  19

The open call commissions (Brighton, Coast and South Downs) provide a particular opportunity to work more closely with identified existing communities due to the specifics of the theme and communities who could be part of that. Possible communities and groups should be identified by the photographer as part of their proposal, to be agreed with Photoworks following selection. Possible examples are suggested, but photographers should make their own suggestions as part of their application process: − outlines types of groups/ communities they are interested in engaging with and why − how this would be undertaken by them − how they anticipate such contact to inform emerging ideas for the photography commission. The form, type and regularity of contact photographers should have with communities/ groups would be agreed between the photographer and Photoworks on the basis of their proposal. This would later be approved by the PSG following selection and reviewed as the commission progresses. Artwork Production Once images have been selected for use across the waiting rooms for each commission, the Photographer will review plans and discuss production methods with Willis Newson and Photoworks. The final work might be produced in a number of ways and at different scales to be decided in collaboration between the Photographer and the Photography Steering Group: ● Framed Photographs ● Photographs on printed dibond or aluminium, framed or unframed ● Large scale architectural wall works ● Other to be suggested Please note that display methods requiring power will not be considered, including projection, lightboxes or moving image. Photographers will provide written captions and a project summary on the series for publicity and interpretation purposes. These will be edited and signed off with Photographers by PSG prior to publication.

7) The Commission Process We are looking for artists who can commit to the following principles: − Agree to work within commissioning context constraints of 3Ts Development − Agree to respond to the brief in a way that is relevant to the CONNECT Commissions programme AND creates an original artistic response to the chosen themes that is creative in its development and outputs − Agree to make work that is inspired and informed by artist contact and engagement with communities/groups in the research and development stage as required according to the specific brief − Agree to make work that is authored by the artist only − Agree to research, develop and produce the commission in consultation with PW and PSG − Agree to work to the project timelines and key milestones and act as a professional and collegiate representative of the commissions at all times. Project management and reporting The project will be managed by Photoworks on behalf of the Photography Steering Group and art consultants Willis Newson. Photographers are expected to report and communicate in line with project planning and in a professional manner. The CONNECT Arts project is a complex project and as such, the photographers are required to work in the spirit of collaboration at all project levels including communities, other commissioned artists and colleagues involved (groups, staff, patients) with the commissioners at the PSG and other groups involved in decision making in the project e.g. the Joint Arts Group Insurance Photographers must hold valid public liability insurance of up to £5 million and must submit details of the policy on signing the contract. BSUH has the right to reproduce the works for further installation at the BSUH site should they be damaged or need to be transferred to another space for presentation. Sales of works Percentage commissions on all sales and number of editions of works arising from the CONNECT project would be detailed with the artist and the PSG in a photographer and commissioners contract on appointment. Credits and moral rights Best endeavours will be undertaken to identify the photographers as the originator of the work on all occasions when the work (including any preliminary photographs) or any installation of the work or other permitted reproduction is exhibited, published or issued to the public. Further commissioning outputs The PSG are seeking additional outputs for the photography commissions project to enrich the outcomes and reach of the programme. Current ideas include a digital platform for the project and wider community programme. Photographers will be fully informed of these developments and an honorarium commensurate with any additional time this might require of the photographer to participate in these aspects will be agreed.
