Vision
A single service for the New England Region that connects NBN technologies to:
• Education – Tertiary, TAFE, Public and Private schools
• Research – CSIRO, CRC’s, MLA, Angus Australia etc
• Health and Community Support Services – allied health, rural medicine (UNE), hospitals, aged care provisions
• Agriculture – carbon farming and intensive livestock production
• Local Business, Retail and Professional Services
• Technology – partners local, national, international
• Renewable Energy – windfarms, bio fuel research
• Logistics and Transportation – airport transport and delivery in/out
• Tourism – outstanding natural and historical heritage, sports and wine The project demonstrates new opportunities for regional cities to leverage off the National Broadband Network. A local government study is being conducted that examines the feasibility of the creation of a new green data/call centre in Armidale, New England within the boundary of the current technology park (NBN first release site) which connects to a series of core services commencing with the National Broadband Network. Green Data Centre – providing cloud data, application, replication services for all user types in New England and IT outsourcing technologies for local and national customers – approx. 18 core services.
Green Call Centre – providing key support and contact management services for large-scale organisations, small businesses, within New England, and external organisations ready to outsource call centre services to New England.
Transactional Shared Services - providing simplified, standardised processes and business solutions for local, national and international organsiations. For example, Payroll, HR, Financial Flow, Accounts Relievable, Procure to Pay.
Capital funding is being sought for development and implementation from the Regional Development Australia Fund 2011.

Vision
Armidale Dumaresq Council has commissioned
a study into the feasibility of the creation of a
“Cloud Service” in New England which,
together with the introduction of the National
Broadband Network, would connect a range of
service offerings for the region as a whole.
The Project’s Executive Sponsor is the Hon. Dr.
Richard Torbay, MP with Mr. Chris Hancock,
CEO of AARNet as co-chair of the Steering
Committee.
Services for the Centre would include:
• Green Data Centre (Tier 2/3 up to 20 Racks,
vBlock & Storage Area Network)
• Green Call Centre (up to 80 FTE Phase 1)
• Software/Hardware Services (IaaS; PaaS;
SaaS)
• CTI Telephony Support Services (Voice over
IP)
• Transactional Processing Centre (Payroll,
HR, Finance, P2P – c45FTE)
• Business Services (Video Conferencing,
Digital Café)
• Connected through the NBN

The service has 95% applicability In the region across core services
• Consultations will be conducted across a very broad range of diverse organisations within
the New England Region and beyond.
• A business and public survey will be conducted online
• Workshops will be conducted with a core evaluation team to determine:
• Design of Appropriate Services
• Financial Modelling for development and sustainability
• Options Appraisal and recommendations
• The output of the project will be an information website and a report on the feasibility of the service together with recommendations to enable Armidale Council to submit to the Regional Development Australia Fund and other upcoming financial awards.
