We all have a soundtrack to our lives… songs we
connect with places, times, events and people.
Songs that help tell our story. Songs that bring
back memories. Songs that evoke feelings and
strong emotions. Songs that offer hope… I’m sure
as you’ve read this songs come to mind…
In September we are starting a series of messag-
es at Hope Whangarei, working through a selec-
tion of Psalms, The soundtrack of God’s people
for well over two thousand years.
The series is called “Psalms in the Key of Life:
Songs of Hope amidst real life”. (It’s a play on
Stevie Wonder’s great album “songs in the key of
life, 1976, a vital part of my life soundtrack).
Psalm 1 acts as an introduction to the whole
book. Talking of the person who puts their trust
in God a meditates on his word day and night be-
ing like a tree planted by a reliable water source
that never runs dry, and through the rest of the
collection you see this worked out amidst pain
and suffering, joy and sorrow, hard times and
good times, illness and terror, souring song of
praise and deep dark lament, storm cloud and
desert journey, individually and corporately as
God’s people.
It is full of Hope for us as we traverse the same
landscape of life and face the same life issues
trusting the same faithful God. As we do this my
prayer is that your heart would be filled with
song as we see the faithfulness and goodness of
God.

ANGEL TREE
is a ministry that serves the needs of pris-oners families at Christmas time. If you feel the call to champion this ministry
through Hope Whangarei, please contact Gini Shepheard on 0211797119 or email:
PrayerNet
Hope Whangarei runs a confidential prayer network where 25 people are committed to praying for people in
need. It is centralised through the main of-fice, where prayer matters are sent
out through Trix and/or Karen. An important aspect of this is that
the person being prayed for must have
given their consent. If you have a prayer need –
contact the office or e-mail: [email protected]
Likewise if you are willing to commit to praying for others and would like to
join the network, please contact the office.
Children at Worship We love children here at HOPE
Children’s programs run during Morning Worship, except during school holidays.
Activities for children are available at evening worship.
Evening worship food roster.
The evening worship at Hope Cen-
tral is based round a fellowship meal. Over the past few years this
has blossomed into a meal that connects with many people from outside the church and the home-less, and we are looking for peo-ple to help provide food for what is a growing ministry to the com-munity. If you are prepared to provide a pot of soup, or other
food, now and then or a monthly basis please contact Gerry Philpot
