*In Spanish, there are three types of verbs: AR, ER, and IR

*When verbs have the AR, ER, or IR attached to the end, this is called the INFINITIVE form

*In English, the infinitive form of a verb is “to _______”

*Examples: to run, to walk, to eat

*We can’t go around saying “I to eat pizza” or “he to run to

the store”…

*So we have to conjugate verbs---“I eat pizza” and “he runs

to the store”

*Conjugating means changing the verb from its infinitive form

*You already know how to do this with the verb SER!

*SER is an irregular verb, so the good news is conjugating

verbs can be much easier!

*Most verbs follow a pattern—the endings change depending on the subject doing the action

conjugating regular verbs:1. Find the infinitive2. Drop the ending

(AR, in this case)3. Add the new ending

(depending on the subject)

1. Find the infinitive: HABLAR

2. Drop the –AR ending: HABL

3. Add the new ending:
