The250gcapacitybeanhopperhasashutterreleasemechanismforeasyremovalandpreventingaccidentalspills.Itallowstheusertotransferanyun-usedbeanstoanidealstorageunittopreservefreshness.

Grind adjustment collar

Largeandeasytouse,thecollarhasawide-rangeof25grindsettings.Thecoffeemakercanselectafinegrindtosuitcommercialespressooradjustthesettingforotherbrewingstyles–fromTurkishtoplunger.Withsuchprecisesettingstheusercontrolstheparticlesizeandultimatelythequalityofthebrew.

Grind on demand buttonPositionthegrouphandleintothegrouphandlelocator,pushagainstthebuttonandfreshlygroundcoffeewillflowdirectlyintothebasket,pullthehandleawayandgrindingwillstop.

Preparation mat

Positionedunderthegrindingspoutthepreparationmatisidealforcatchingloosecoffeegrindswhilefillingdirectlyintothegrouphandle.

Rubber feet

Thenon-sliprubberfeetensurethegrinderremainsstableandpreventsslippingonthebenchtopduringuse.

HeadingOperating your Conical Burr Coffee GrinderBeforeusingthecoffeegrinder,wipethebaseexteriorwithadampcloth.Washthebeanhopper,hopperlidandgroundcoffeecontainerinwarmsoapywater,thenrinseanddry.

Note:Donotimmersetheburrsinwateroranyotherliquid.

1.Placethecoffeegrinderonadry,levelsurface.

2.Toattachthebeanhopper,positionbeanhopperontothetopofthemotorbase,pushdownandturnclockwise. Seefigure1.

3.Fillthebeanhopperwithcoffeebeans.

Tip:Remembertokeepthehopperfullatalltimes.Havinganevenweightbearingdownontheburrsisimportanttoensureaconsistentgrind.

Note:Thiscoffeegrinderisintendedtogrindwholecoffeebeansonly.

4.Placethehopperlidontothebeanhopper.

5.Plugthepowercordintoa230-240VACpoweroutletandswitchthepoweron.

6.Selectthegrindbyturningthegrindadjustmentcollartothedesiredsetting,seefigure2.

Refertothegrindsettingtableonpage6toassistyouinselectingthecorrectgrindlevelforthedesiredbrewingmethod.

7. Positionthegrouphandleintothegrouphandlelocator,seefigure3.

Note:Therearetwogrouphandlelocatorsprovidedasmallersizetofitdomestichandlesandalargersizeforcommercialhandles.

8. Togrindcoffee,pressthegrouphandleagainstthebuttonlocatedinthecentreofthegrouphandlelocator,seefigure4.

9. Whenthebasketisfull,pullthegrouphandleoffthebutton.Collapsethecoffeeinthebasketbytappingitonthebenchandrepeatuntilthedesiredamountofcoffeehasbeenground.

Thewide-rangeof25grindsettingsallowsforprecisionadjustment.Thecoffeemakerhascompletecontroloftheparticlesizeandultimatelythequalityoftheresultingbrew.

Somethingstorememberwhenusingthecoffeegrinder;

• Thesmallertheparticlesizethelongeritwilltaketogrind.

• Whenusingthefinersettingsthecoffeemaybecomestuck,werecommendtappingonthelidofthebeanhoppertodislodgeanyclumpsofcoffeeblockingtheflow.

• Afterlongperiodsofusingthefinersettingswerecommendremovingtheupperburrandsweepingawayanyresidualcoffeetoavoidclogging.SeetheCareandCleaningsectiononpage7formoredetails.

Tips1.Selectthecorrectgrindforthebrewing

methodyouareusing.25grindsettingsareavailabletoensureprecisionadjustment.Setting1producesthefinestgrind,12to16aremediumgrindsappropriateforespressocoffeemakers,and25isthecoarsestgrindyoucanachieve.Experimentwiththegrindsettingstoachievetheidealbrewthatbestsuitsyourtastes.

2.Fordripfiltercoffeemachines,agoodstartingpointistouse8grams(1scoop)ofcoffeeforevery4cupsofbrewwaterasmeasuredwiththecarafe.Finergrindsusuallyrequirelesscoffee,butusingtoofineagrindwillresultinabrewthatisbitterinflavour.

3.Forthosethatpreferweakercoffee,continuetousetherecommendedamountofgroundcoffeeandthendilutetheresultingbrewwithfreshhotwater.Doingthiswillmaximiseflavourandminimisebitterness.

4.Coffeethatisgroundtoofineforaparticularbrewingprocesswillresultinover-extractionandthecoffeewilltastebitter.Ontheotherhand,coffeethatistoocoarseforaparticularbrewingmethodwillresultinunder-extractionandthecoffeewillbethinandpoorinflavour.

5.Oncecoffeeisgrounditquicklylosesitsflavourandaroma.Forthebestresultswerecommendyougrindbeansimmediatelypriortobrewing.

6.Buyfreshwholecoffeebeansweekly.

7.Toretainfreshness,storewholecoffeebeansinanairtightcontainerinacool,dark,dryplace.Itisnotrecommendedthatyoustorebeansinthegrinder’sbeanhopperforaprolongedperiod.

8.Toensurethebestresultsfromthecoffeegrindercleanthebeanhopperandconicalburrsregularly.

Cleaning the motor base, bean hopper and coffee container

1.Removethebeanhopperfromthemotorbaseandstoreunusedbeansinanairtightcontainertopreservetheirfreshness,seefigure5.

2.Cleanthemotorbaseexteriorusinga dampsoftspongewithmilddetergent andwipedry.

3.Washthebeanhopperandcoffeecontainerinwarmsoapywater,thenrinseanddry.

Cleaning the burrsIfthecoffeegrinderisusedfrequently(everyday),theburrsneedtobecleanedeverythreeweekstoensurebestperformanceofthecoffeegrinder.Regularcleaninghelpstheburrsachieveconsistentgrindingresults,whichisespeciallyimportantwhengrindingcoffeeforespresso.

1.Ensurethecoffeegrinderisswitchedoffandunpluggedfromthepoweroutlet.Removethebeanhopperfromthemotorbase,pushdownandturnanti-clockwise.Seefigure5.

2.Toremovethetopburrturnthegrindadjustmentcollarinananti-clockwisedirectionuntilitstops,seefigure6.

4.Liftoutthetopburrfromthegrindadjustmentcollarusingthehandle,seefigure8.Cleanusingtheburr-cleaningbrush.

5.Liftthegrindadjustmentcollarawayfromthemotorbaseandcleanwiththebrush,seefigure9.

6.Cleanthebottomburrusingtheburr-cleaningbrush,seefigure10.

7.Oncebothburrsarecleaned,returnthegrindadjustmentcollartoitspositioninthemotorbase.

8.Withthegrindadjustmentcollarinhandalignthegraphiclineonthecollarwiththelineontherearofthemotorbase,pressdown.
