President? Treasurer? Councillor?
Revision of the Society’s RulesCouncil thanks those members, branches and interest groups who put time and effort in to making submissions on the draftrevision of the Society’s rules. Each of the 53 submitters had a personal response from the Rules Review Working Group.
As a result of submissions received some changes have been made to the draft rules to assist clarification andinterpretation. Those changes have not altered the overall thrust and focus of the revised rules, which were approved byCouncil at its 30th January meeting. Some minor comments from the Society's Honorary Solicitor also were considered.
The changes will be outlined to members in a covering advice that will accompany the postal ballot scheduled for April2016.
The Rules Review Working Group has not been able to include in the draft rules all suggestions for change, particularly asthere were often conflicting views expressed in submissions. However, it trusts that its replies to submitters have assisted inclarifying questions and concerns raised.
We do ask that you do not lose sight of the fact the existing rules are acknowledged as ‘no longer fit for purpose’ and theGroup has had to produce a rules document that will meet the needs of the Society and its members for the foreseeablefuture, as well as complying with the requirements of Charities Services.
