Conflict
Conflict
Conflict is indicative of a disagreement, tension a fight, or struggle.
As you can see…
External Conflicts:
Man Versus ManThis is perhaps the most obvious and most played on in literature. There is usually one protagonist and one antagonist in a story. The two are in conflict or disagreement over some one or something in the story.
In the novel, Ralph and Jack are the two who are at conflict over who should lead the boys.
Ralph represents order and civilization while Jack represents chaos, evil, and savagery.
Literature
Man versus NatureThis form of conflict is demonstrated when a character must fight the elements of nature in order to survive. In the novel, we see several instances of this form of conflict:
• Finding food
• Making shelter
• Making fire
• Hunting
• Finding rescue

Man versus Society
Man versus SelfA classic example of internal conflict is when Piggy tries to rationalize his participation in Simon’s murder. He struggles with the fact that he did what was unthinkable and convinces himself it was an accident.
Internal Conflict:
Stories would be very boring!
The beast
One of the interesting conflicts is the perceived threat of the beast. Although we never see the beast, the boys all believe it exists. This causes unrest in the young-uns, especially.
Without conflict
Tell what form of conflict each image represents and if it is internal or external.
