Sunday, May 26th, 2019 - Sixth Sunday of Easter - Cycle C Readings: Acts 15:1-2, 22-29, Psalm 67 “O God, let all the nations praise you!”, Revelations 21:10-14, 22-23, John 14:23-29 Parishioners and Visitors, “Be still and know that I am God.” As we just celebrated the solemnities of the Holy Week, and still rejoicing during this time of the Easter season, we are called to mind the importance to be close to God at all times, and not letting the worries of this world prevail over us. In some situations when I myself feel anxious or frustrated about something it comes to my heart a verse of the Psalm 46:10, as it says: “Be still and know that I am God.” These words are the one that should come to our mind when we think that there is no way out of our frustration, the same words that constantly come to me, I share with you “Be still and know that I am God.” First Communion and Confirmations Besides the month of May being dedicated to the devotion to Our Blessed Mother, I realized this month was a very busy one, with the retreats for the students in preparation for first communion, and their first communion celebration on May 19th. The day of retreat for the candidates of confirmation and the celebration of the rite of confirmation that we are celebrating on this day of May 26th. But these activities have not being completed without the help and the support of those who behind the scenes, for this I want to take the opportunity to thank each of you for your selfless service and ministry to St. Eugene Catholic Mission & Student Center. May God bless you abundantly and be sure of my constant prayers for your behalf. “There is a time for everything” Ecclesiastes 3:1 The first verse present in the book of Ecclesiastes portrays a very concrete reality, as it says: “There is a time for everything.” I quote this passage of the scripture days after the installation of Most Reverend Wilton Daniel Gregory, as the 7th Archbishop of Washington, DC. Bishop Wilton Gregory is the First African American Roman Catholic clergy to seat at the “Cathedra” the Metropolitan See of Washington, DC, maybe for some can be understood as a kind of victory, but in my humble reflection I would say that in the moment, which the Catholic Church in USA is living right now, this is a time of healing and build up hope, this is a time to seek reconciliation. WII Bowling Tournament

Fundraising

Beginning , May 19, 2019 the mem-

bers of the Bowman-Seabrook Youth Gospel Choir will be

soliciting pledges for our WII Bowling Tournament fundraiser.

The tournament will take place on June 8, 2019. Each person

is asked to pledge a certain amount per pin for the number of

pins knocked down in two games. A pledge of a flat donation

amount may also be made. Money will be due by June 16,

2019. Please see any member of the Youth Gospel Choir to

make your pledge. This funds form this fundraiser will go to-

ward our trip to Lyke Conference. Thank you for your contin-

ued support.

"Estad quietos y sabed que yo soy Dios".

Como acabamos de celebrar las solemnidades de la Semana Santa, y aún nos regocijamos durante este tiempo del

tiempo pascual, se nos recuerda la importancia de estar cerca de Dios en todo momento, y no dejar que las pre-

ocupaciones de este mundo nos dominen. En algunas situaciones en las que yo mismo me siento ansioso o frustrado

por algo, me llega a mi corazón un verso del Salmo 46:10, que dice: "Estad quietos y sabed que yo soy Dios". Estas

palabras son las que deberían llegar a nuestra mente cuando pensamos que no hay forma de salir de nuestra frustra-

ción, las mismas palabras que vienen constantemente a mí, las comparto con ustedes: "Estad quietos y sabed que yo

soy Dios".

Primera Comunión y Confirmaciones.

Además del mes de mayo dedicado a la devoción a Nuestra Santísima Madre, me di cuenta de que este mes fue muy

ocupado, con los retiros para los estudiantes en preparación para la primera comunión y la celebración de la Primera

Comunión el 19 de mayo. El día de retiro para los candidatos de Confirmación y la celebración del rito de Confir-

mación que estamos celebrando en este día, 26 de mayo. Pero estas actividades no se hubieran completado sin la

ayuda y el apoyo de quienes están detrás de escena, por eso quiero aprovechar la oportunidad para agradecer a cada

uno de ustedes por su servicio desinteresado y su ministerio en St. Eugene Catholic Mission & Student Center. Que

Dios te bendiga abundantemente y estén seguro de mis constantes oraciones por ustedes.

"Hay un tiempo para todo" Eclesiastés 3: 1

El primer verso presente en el libro de Eclesiastés retrata una realidad muy concreta, ya que dice: "Hay un momento

para todo". Cito este pasaje de las Escrituras después de la instalación del Reverendísimo Wilton Daniel Gregory,

como el séptimo arzobispo de Washington, DC. El obispo Wilton Gregory es el primer clero católico-afroamericano

que se sienta en la "Cátedral" de la sede metropolitana de Washington, DC. Tal vez para algunos se pueda entender

como una especie de victoria, pero en mi humilde reflexión diría que en el tiempo, que la Iglesia católica en los EE.

UU. está viviendo en este momento, este es un tiempo de sanación y esperanza, y es el momento de buscar la recon-

ciliación.

Dios de Poder y Gloria, por tu santa voluntad resucitaste a Jesús de la muerte para que

podamos compartir su vida eterna. Al regocijarnos y darte gracias por tu

gran bondad y misericordia ayúdanos a acercarnos a los que no creen todavia en la

verdad del Evangelio. Llénanos de tu compasión para que con

corazones amorosos podamos servir por amor a Ti a los débiles y necesitados.

Fortalece la fe de nuestras familias de modo que podamos crecer juntos en amor. Que Tu alegría crezca en nosotros día a día.

God of Power and Glory, by your holy will you raised Jesus from the dead so that

we can share his eternal life. As we rejoice and give thanks for your

great kindness and mercy help us approaching those who do not yet

believe in gospel truth. Fill us with your compassion so that with

loving hearts we can serve for love of you to the weak and needy.
