Configuring Norton Internet Security

Some users of NTREIS Listings who also use Norton Internet Security have experienced problems searching from the Quick Search screen. When clicking on ‘Search’ after entering their specific criteria, nothing happens. Following are steps for adjusting Norton Internet Security settings to avoid interference.

The following steps must be done in order.

Step 1: Ensure that only one Internet Explorer browser window is open and that you are not logged into NTREIS Listings. Step 2: Click on Tools located near the upper left-hand corner of the browser window and then click on Internet Options (fig. 1).

Step 3: When the Internet Options window (fig. 2) opens, click on the Delete Cookies button (fig. 3 - near the center of the window on the General tab) and then click ‘ok’ on the confirmation window that pops up. Next, click on Delete Files (fig. 4) and click ‘ok’ on its confirmation window as well.

Step 4: After the temporary internet files have been deleted (this can take several minutes), click on the Settings button (see fig. 2). Make sure this is set to check for newer versions on every visit to the page (fig. 5) Click ‘ok’ on any open windows and then close Internet Explorer. .

Step 5: Double-click the Norton Internet Security icon (fig. 6) in the system tray (in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen by the time).

Step 6: When the control panel opens, click on Personal Firewall and then click on ‘configure’ near the lower right-hand corner of the control panel window (fig. 7).

Step 7: When the Personal Firewall configuration window opens, click on the Home Networking or Workgroup Networking tab at the top of the window. Make sure the Trusted tab is highlighted near the center of the window and then click on the Add button near the bottom of the window (fig. 8).

Step 8: From the list of choices available on the next screen, select individually and then input ntreis.marketlinx.com in the space provided (fig. 9).

Click ‘ok’ on this window and then click ‘ok’ on the personal firewall configuration window (see fig. 8). Step 9: At this point you should be back on the Norton Internet Security control panel window (see fig. 7). Click on Ad Blocking and then click on ‘configure’ in the lower right-hand corner (fig. 10)

Step 10: Make sure Ad Blocking is NOT checked (fig. 11). Pop-up Blocking can remain checked as it has not caused any significant problems with the system thus far. Click ‘ok’ and then close the Norton Internet Security control panel.

Step 11: Completely shut down the machine (not just a restart), wait a few seconds and then reboot. After the machine reboots, log in to NTREIS Listings as you normally would and see if any problems persist.
