NEW UPDATES RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Classes will begin during the SECOND week of October. ALL classes will take place online- the children will gather MONTHLY in the church (with social distancing). Given the crisis of the virus we will ask only $30 to pay for the book and technology material this year for the entire program. To enroll, families must be registered parishioners (since June 2020) and commit to attending a mass on Sunday or during the week as a family. If you are not a registered parishioner you will need to register AND to live in Elmhurst. At this time we are not able to

take children from outside the parish. Registration for classes are open online (stbartselmhurst.org) We urge you to register immediately- there is a limit to the number of students we can take. Please be patient with us- all will be well!

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Beginning Thursday, October 1st we will have exposition of the Eucharist every Thursday before the 11:15 am and 6:30 pm masses. Exposition will begin at 10:30 am and 5:30 pm. We will also have benediction before the mass. Please join us in prayer! You can also attend virtually- stbartselmhurst.org

NOVENA OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL The Novena prayers to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal will be prayed every Monday immediately following the 11:15 am English mass. Please join us!

Dear Friends, This is the first time we are publishing the bulletin (limited copies) in 6 months. Yes, these historic days have been challenging for all of us. As a parish we are doing our best to create some type of normality again. Your health and safety is the most important! Everyone must sanitize their hands upon entering the church; keep your masks on and sit 6 feet away from others not part of your family. After every mass a team of volunteers works to clean the church for the next mass. This has been a lot of work – but- it has been successful. Hard work pays off! Thank you to all of our weekend volunteers who serve the needs of our parish! The first weekend of October we will be asking all those who have not contributed to this years Annual Catholic Appeal to do so generously. The needs of our diocese are great and can only be achieved with all of our help.

Como parroquia, estamos haciendo todo lo posible para volver a crear algún tipo de normalidad. ¡Su salud y seguridad es lo más importante! Todos deben higienizarse las manos al entrar a la iglesia; mantén tus máscaras puestas y siéntate a 6 pies de distancia de otras personas que no sean parte de tu familia. Después de cada misa, un equipo de voluntarios trabaja para limpiar la iglesia para la próxima misa. Ha sido mucho trabajo, pero ha tenido éxito. ¡El trabajo duro tiene su recompensa! ¡Gracias a todos nuestros voluntarios de fin de semana que atienden las necesidades de nuestra parroquia!

El primer fin de semana de octubre les pediremos a todos aquellos que no han contribuido a la Campaña Católica Anual de este año que lo hagan con generosidad. Las necesidades de nuestra diócesis son grandes y solo se pueden lograr con toda nuestra ayuda.

NEED A LETTER FROM YOUR CHURCH?

In order to give letters of recommendation, letters attesting to character, sponsor

certificates, and other documents that may have legal or religious purposes, it is

required that persons requesting those documents be registered and be active members of Saint Bartholomew Parish

at least three months prior to your request. We can not provide any of these documents to people not

registered in the parish.

236 children will receive their first holy communion over 9 ceremonies during this month of September!! Our parish congratulates these young people as well as their parents and godparents! Special thanks to Sr Lucy, our catechists and assistants for their ministry in these difficult times.

CONFIRMATION 226 young people received the Sacrament of Confirmation over 8 beautiful ceremonies during the month of August ! Our parish congratulates these young people as well as their parents and new sponsors! We are a blessed parish to have so many young people participating in the life of the Church.

Our parish does not have the financial capacity to help every family living in Elmhurst to purchase food. If we could we would- but we cannot. At this time we are assisting our registered and active parishioners. Please email us: your name, registration number (found on your parish envelopes) your address and phone. We can provide you with food vouchers to a local supermarket. Since the end of March we have given almost $12,000 in food vouchers to our registered parishioners. We hope to continue to assist! Would you like to donate?
