WELCOME

“The university has moved from good to excellent. We are ready for the next

step: the stride from excellent to eminent, the leap from visible to visionary. ”

— President E. Gordon Gee

Friends, The above quotation by our beloved President ties together the goals of everyone involved in this year’s Great Lakes Regional Conference. This weekend is the culmination of a two-year long journey, linking the vision of the Institute of Industrial Engineers with the passionate stu-dents in the Integrated Systems Engineering Department at The Ohio State University.

OSU is famously big. As special guests, take full advantage of our size. Students, faculty mem-bers, company reps., business professionals, and friends of the university, please “Think Big” and depart on Sunday with something tangible. This conference is about forging real relation-ships, talking less, and doing more.

Accepting a recent challenge to become sincere and bona fide Integrated Systems Engineers, the OSU IIE Student Chapter is offering professional, academic, and social networks which openly promote our profession for all to see. This balanced program is brought to you at game speed, do not miss out on the opportunity to have fun and do something great.

Our speakers are winners; they believe in “giving away” their success stories for our benefit. Our 19 company sponsors are among the world’s best and are here to hire. Our students intend to join forces, enter industry, and transform your businesses.

As you ponder what it means to be “Free Agents in a Technical World,” stop and celebrate your career wins together. Know that you are worthy leaders and a part of something eminent. On behalf of the 33 officers and 135 members of OSU-IIE who have worked day and night for this event: Remember to “Think Outside the Bun” and know that IIE Takes You Places.
