1. ILA-Kaula Best Librarian Award-2014. The award instituted by Prof. P. N. Kaula Endowment for Library and Information Science, Guntur (AP), is for the professionals in the field of LIS in India. The Award carries a shawl, citation and memento. 2. ILA-Vendanaikee Fellowship 2013-2014 The ILA-Vendanaikee Fellowship was instituted by Mrs. V. K. Sundaram, formerly reader, DLIS, University of Delhi. The award is to be given to a candidate who has secured highest percent of marks in the qualifying examination on the basis of which the candidate has been admitted to the BLISc Course in the University of Delhi during 2013-2014. The award is to be given in cash (Rs. 1000/only). 3. ILA-CD Sharma Award-2014 The Award is meant for the author of the best paper written and presented during All-India Library Conference of ILA. The Award was instituted by Mrs. Kamla Sharma w/o Dr. C. D. Sharma. The Award will be announced at the time of All India Library Conference. It consist of presentation of books worth Rs. 1000/-. 4. ILA-A G Motiwale Award-2014 The Award is meant for the young author of the best paper written and presented during the conference of ILA. Author must be below the age of 40 years. The Award was instituted by Mrs. Sushila Motiwale w/o Late Dr. A. G. Motiwale. The Award will be announced at the time of All India Library Conference. It consist of cash award of Rs. 500/- 5. ILA-P V Verghese Award-2014 The Award has been instituted by Sh. P.V. Verghese and is meant to be given to the author of the best paper published in Journal of ILA in a year. The Award will be given for the volume 48 at the time of the conference. It consists of cash award of Rs. 500/-. 6. ILA-DR. K Padma Umapathy and KS Umapathy Fellowship in Library &
Information Science Five Fellowships worth Rs. 2000/- each are to be awarded annually out of the accrued interest on certain sum of deposit with ILA. The money has been donated by Dr. K. S. Umapathy, former Professor of Library and Information Science and Librarian of the Bangalore University. These Fellowships are given to the students doing MLISc in recognized universities. At least three Fellowships will be awarded to the woman candidate provided they satisfy the conditions. Students securing 60% of the marks in qualifying examination and needing help may seek the Fellowship. However, students getting any other type of assistance from Government / University, etc. will not be eligible for the Fellowship. Not more than one Fellowship would be awarded to any one student from an institution during one year.

7. ILA-Dr. L M Padhya Best University Library Award 2014 The Award instituted by Mrs. Kantaben L Padhya in memory of her Late husband Dr. L. M. Padhya. Dr. L. M. Padhya retired as University Librarian, from Smt. Hansa Mehta Library, of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat. The Award carries a shawl, citation and memento. Applications are invited for the above award fulfilling the following criterion: a) The university should be recognized by the University Grants Commission. b) Must be a Member of AIU. c) No Private University/Institution is eligible to apply. d) Awardees Library should be the Institutional member of ILA. 8. ILA-S M Ganguly Award 2014 The Award is meant for the best school library in the country. The libraries of high/higher secondary schools are eligible if they fulfill the following criteria: (a) The applicant school may be an institution recognized/aided or run by the state Government; (b) The Library is administrated by a full time librarian possessing at least a BLISc. Degree; (c) The Library must be located in separate room of its own and provide at least lending services to all classes in regular and systematic manner; (d) A School Library shall not get the award twice within five years and (e) The Award is to be given every two years and consists of a shawl, citation and memento. 9. ILA-Dr. PSG Kumar Life Time Achievement Award-2014 The Award, instituted by Dr. P. S. G. Kumar Felicitation Committee, Amravati (Maharashtra), is for the professionals in the field of LIS in India. The Award carries a shawl, citation; memento and 3 tier AC to and fro fare by shortest route. Nominations are invited on plain paper with detailed CV, Age of the applicant should be 55 and above. 10. ILA Gidwani- Deshpandey Best Academic Librarian Award 2014 The award instituted by Prof. K. Navalani, former Professor and Head, Department of Library Science, Punjabi University, is for the professional in the field of academic libraries in India. The award carries a shawl, citation and a memento.

Dr. Nihar Kanta Patra has been awarded Ph.D. from Sambalpur University, Odisha under the guidance of Prof. B. K. Choudhury, and Prof. A. K. Pani on "Electronic Resource Management (ERM): A Case Study of Management School Libraries in India". Dr. Patra presently working in National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), Kundli, Sonipat. Dr. Sada Bihari Sahu, Asst. General Manager in Small Industries Development Bank of India, Lucknow has received the "Best Librarian Award (Corporate)" 2015 by Library Professional Association(LPA), New Delhi by the International Conference on Knowledge Organization in Academic Libraries (I-KOAL 2015) held at Manipal University, Jaipur on January 02, 2015. The award was presented by Hon'ble Education Minister, Govt. of Rajasthan
Prof. S. Sudarshan Rao, Senior ICSSR Research Fellow, Former Head and Chairman, Dept. of Library & Information Science, and Principal of Arts College and Controller of Examinations (Confidential), Osmania University has been awarded the UGC Emeritus Fellowship for the year 2014-15.
Prof. S. M. Saffi, DLIS, Kashmir University has been awarded the UGC Emeritus Fellowship for the year 2014-15
Dr. Arun Kumar Chakraborty has taken over the charge of Director- General, Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF) on 16.12.2014. He has served as Librarian in Bose Institute, Kolkata from 2000 to 2014. He has been the General Secretary of IASLIC from 2007 to 2010, and visited NIH Bethesda, Maryland, USA as Fulbright Scholar during 2005-2006.

Shri V.L. Kalyan, Ex Head, Technical Information Centre at BEL, Bangaluru has passed away on 9
th Jan 2015. He
was the native of village Shirpur Dist Dule (Maharashtra). He has been the General Secretary of Karnataka State Library Association for a long period and was professionally active. He was very friendly and contributed a lot for professional development.
Prof. Kailash C. Sahoo, Former Professor and Head of DLIS and Dean, School of Information Studies, Dr. H.S. Gour University, Sagar has passed away on 27th January 2015 at Bhubaneswar. He was born on 22nd July 1947 at Jagatsinghpur Distt - Odisha.

Trivandrum during January 10 - 11, 2015 at Kerela Library
Association Head Quarters, Thiruvananthapuram.
National Conference on ETD was organised by INFLIBNET
Centre, Gandhinagar during 22-23 January, 2015. The
conference planned to offer an excellent educational
opportunity to librarians, research scholars, supervisors
and other ETD professionals from universities to build
and maintain their digital repositories by interacting each
other. The goal of the conference was to offer relevant,
practice-oriented content to support ETD: National
productivity improvement, professionals, advance
operations, and encourage the creation of quality
national repository in the India.
International Library Conference on "What’s Next in
Libraries? Trends, Space, and Partnerships" was
organised by Dr. Kishor Ch. Satpathy, National Institute of
Technology Silchar during Jan 21 to 23, 2015.

Two-Day National Workshop on Research Methodology
and Academic Writing was organised at INFLIBNET
Centre, Gandhinagar during 29-30 January, 2015. The
objective of this workshop was to introduce the modern
ways of conducting literature research, use of discovery
tools and databases, use of reference management
software such as Myendnoteweb, Mendeley and data
analytical tool such as SPSS in analysing the research
data. The Workshop helped the participants in applying
proper research methodology and improving their
analysis by applying various statistical techniques using
popular software. The course aim was to improve the
research skills and competence among the researchers
by strengthening their knowledge as well as improving
researchers’ technical and writing skill.
International Conference on the theme “Emerging
Technologies and Future of Libraries: Issues and
Challenges” was organised at Ambedkar Bhavan,
Gulbarga University, Karnataka during January 30-31,
2015. Various awards instituted by Karnataka State SC/ST
Library Professionals Association, Bangalore were given
to support and motivate the professionals for their
exemplary services rendered in the libraries and other
fields
