Presenter Feature: NAPCAN Australia's National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect: 27 Year Of Preventing Child Abuse In Australia Prevention is key at NAPCAN. Its strategy is to bring about the changes necessary in individual and community behavior to stop child abuse and neglect before it starts by promoting quality child abuse prevention research and advocating for child safe policies and strategies, among other things. Richard has been the Chief Executive Officer of NAPCAN since October 2010. Lesley Taylor is currently the Northern Territory Manager. Teresa Scott is the National President of NAPCAN. NAPCAN's Richard Cooke, Lesley Taylor, and Teresa Scott will be presenting on the history of their organization in Australia, their long running national social marketing campaign “National Child Protection Week,” and the Play Your Part program. The Play Your Part program is designed to empower individuals and organizations to take action to promote child safety in their communities. The program involves providing information, skills and resources to develop local prevention plans for children. This presentation will provide an overview of NAPCAN National Child Protection Week and the components that make it an effective social marketing strategy across Australia. The campaign provides a means of engaging diverse populations to take positive action to prevent child abuse and neglect.
