‘If’is used in conditional clauses . The Simple Present Tense is used in conditional clauses to show that thing is likely to happen.

Eg. If I were a millionaire, I would not work at all.
The Simple Past Tense is used in conditional clause to show that things are unlikely to happen.

The Past Perfect Tense is used to refer to things of the past that did not happen.
