Conceptual Framework Survey Process Notes School change requires efforts in the areas of culture, leadership, data, systems, and collaborative inquiry. This document allows educators to examine their school systems through five themes, which are interactive and not linear in nature. Each is necessary and none are primary.
• Before starting the survey, first identify the focus person (supervisor, administrator, etc.) or group (CoIn group, PLC, etc.) that you will be considering as you fill in your evidence.
• Remember this is just a tool, and only as good as how it is used. The power of the tool comes in discussing the evidence of each indicator and using results for action planning.
• It is too much to undertake in one sitting and should be chunked appropriately. • Process, not perfection, is the goal; having more than half of the indicators can be a sign of a healthy
school.
Additional Resources This tool is meant to be used alongside the Coaches’ Handbook and other supportive resources.
Directions 1. Choose a theme to investigate as a team. 2. Individually fill in the middle column to indicate which indicators are
present at your school. 3. Supply supporting evidence for your answer in the far-right column. 4. Debrief with your team. 5. Together, fill in the summary box at the end of the theme. 6. Use the prioritized action items to create your own action framework
with aligned ‘next steps’ at the end of the tool.
