The R4-EM Electronic Rotary Latch provides a simple, versatile electromechanical latch solution for a variety of applications. Add an 8-26 Volt DC power supply and any access control device to the R4-EM for a secure, concealed electronic access solution. The optional internal microswitch provides an output signal to remotely monitor latch status or control external systems.

The efficient DC gear motor driven system releases the rotary cam under heavy loads with minimal power consumption.

The proven rotary mechanism provides push-to-close convenience and a secure closure.

Bi-Fix Quarter Turn Fasteners

The BI-FIX quarter turn fastener is used for securing panels and components where accessibility is important. The special characteristic of the BI-FIX quarter-turn fastener is its quick and simple detachability. A 90¡ turn of the stud unlocks the fastener. Finger pressure onto the head of the stud re-clicks the fastener into the locked position.

Finger pressure on top of the head of the Stud is sufficient to click the Fastener into the locked position. In locked position, the two sides of the Clip seize the notches of the Stud. This connection cannot be opened by vibration or shocks, unless they reach some 100 g (acceleration due to gravity). Under axial tension the fasteners become more and more form-fit, until the clip reaches maximum load (see technical details).

The BI-FIX quarter-turn fastener can be used wherever 2 elements have to be fastened and detached in a quick and safe manner. The BI-FIX quarter-turn fastener is ideal for any application where panels, doors or hatches are continually opened or removed for maintenance or security manufactured from quality materials they are rugged and easy to operate.

The Bi-Fix Quarter Turn Fastener consists of 3 parts:

1. The Stud, which is located in the loose panel.

2. The Washer, which is used for retention of the stud and vibration resistance.

3. The Spring Clip, which is installed permanently into the shell framework, and is designed to ensure that the stud is ejected automatically when turned 90º.

The Bi-Fix Quarter Turn Fastener is manufactured in 3 size series, 8mm, 11mm or 16mm.

1. Forces and hole diameters (sizes)The size of the quarter turn fastener can be determined by the occurring forces, by existing hole sizes or aesthetics.

2. Standard heads and material of the StudOnce the size of the stud has been selected, the shape of the head and the material must be chosen.

3. Securing the Studyou have to choose the best method of securing the stud at the loose part. For temperatures up to 90 C the standard washer “R” is adequate and the most popular method of retention. For temperatures exceeding 90¡C the conical wire spring or circlip are recommended.

4. Fixing-method for Spring ClipsThe Clip is the least expensive item and dependent upon customer preference and mounting position. The Clip can be assembled using rivets, spot welding, screws, clip-ins, slide-ons and angle-plates. To ease a conversion to the BI-FIX quarter-turn system, we offer spring-clips whose hole patterns correspond to those of other producers.

Pivot Point manufactures clevis pins in-house. Stock pins are cold headed per IFI standards except for hole and point dimensions. All holes are chamfered for a superior part finish.

Only the finest cold heading quality wire is used. 3/16 through 3/8 diameters are 1008/1010 carbon steel, 1018 carbon steel is used for 7/16 through 3/4 diameters.

Standard clevis pins listed below are stocked plain finish and drilled per Pivot Point specifications.

Standard clevis pins and grades are available. Pivot Point stocks alloy material to produce up to grade 8 strength if required.

Pivot Point offers a selection of high quality lanyard assemblies 3/64 to 1/8 cable diameter for light-duty retention. These lanyards are typically attached to pins and other fasteners to prevent loss.

All Pivot Point standard lanyards are made from 7 x 7 aircraft cable chosen for its strength and flexibility. Stock sizes are available in galvanized steel cable, bare or coated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or nylon. PVC coating is more popular because of its appearance, flexibility, and low cost. Nylon offers more durability and abrasion resistance.

Stainless lanyard assemblies are made to order. Specify cable diameter and coating on application.

Special lanyards can be assembled fast and are priced without a set-up charge.

Wire lock pins are like having pin and cotter in one secure assembly. The wire loop is pulled over the pin end to lock it in place or remove it. This one-piece fasteners eliminates cotter pin loss and fits most “quick release” applications.

Non-threaded design press-fits into hole. Spring loaded ball forms bearing surface which retracts and then snaps into opposing hole or groove. Use for locating or positioning in drawers, doors dies and other fixtures.

Install Ball Plunger into press fit hole in material. Spring loaded ball automatically depresses to allow adjustments.

Spring loaded ball then snaps back into the desired hole, groove or indentation.

Install Pull Pin into pre-tapped hole in material.

For lighter gauge materials, a nut may be welded to outside of material. The Pull Pin then threads into nut.

The new Bow-Tie Locking Cotter pin works like a Hairpin Cotter, but locks itself on! Push or pull cotter leg into hole, Bow-Tie snaps into a zero-tension locked position. Rue Ring Cotters will retro fit most standard applications without design changes.

Total width of any Rue Ring equals 3 of its wire diameters. The straight wire shaft which goes through the pin hole is one, plus two additional wire loops, one on each side, front and back.

Recommended hole size is 2 times the wire diameter of the selected Rue Ring. This leaves the Rue Ring short of interfering with effective shaft length.

Recommended web thickness is a minimum of 1 wire diameter and a maximum of 2 wire diameters. A thicker web results in more holding power but makes installation and removal more difficult.
