Parting words to Mrs. Ferguson: Thanks for putting up

with my loud craziness. I figure if you didn’t have to put up

with my interruptions in class the past 6 years, we would

have had more than 5400 minutes more rehearsal time :) I

will miss you and your amazing passion for our success so

much. you have inspired me to continue cello and taught

me that with hard work and focus, anything is possible :)

Melissa Boyer Instrument: Bass

cause basses just don’t do that.

that “Pre-“stuff just means after I finish that I have four

more years of school, ugh) and becoming a veterinarian.

Parting words to Mrs. Ferguson: 6 years, that’s like, a

third of my life. You have known me for a third of my life

ha ha ha. I suppose it’s about time I tried something new,

were practicing their rhythms, or secretly playing Pachel-

bel with Alex and Chris during ensemble rehearsal, my

orchestra experience has been simply amazing. It's been a

privilege to be a part of your orchestras. You've exposed

Disneyland Trip A Great Success!

P a g e 6 Con Brio ! J u n e 2 0 1 1

The pirates, the rides, the sun, the recording session,

the concert… it was a great week at the Magic Kingdom

for our orchestras! After months of fundraising and

rehearsals, orchestra members loaded their instru-

ments and gear onto the truck and then headed off to

Disney, where their performance met with rave re-

views. It was a perfect way to cap off a very busy year,

and you can bet we’ll be back.

Don’t Miss the Mustang Symphony!

An After-School Symphony

Orchestra For Class Credit

Coming to Redmond High School: September 2011

Attention high school students (including incoming

sophomores): Do you want the chance to play with a

full symphony orchestra?

Well, starting this fall, you will be able to do that with

the brand new Mustang Symphony class! The Mustang

Symphony is open to all Orchestra and Band students at

Redmond HS. It is offered as a for-credit class after

school for 2 hours for just 2 days a week. Like the jazz

bands and jazz choirs, the only requirement is that you

are a part of one of the Orchestras or Bands (or Choirs)

during the regular class day.

It will be conducted by our own Maestro Ferguson and

will offer opportunities for performance and possibly

even competition. Plus, you'll get to be part of that big

symphony sound. (FYI - Mrs. Ferguson is setting her

eyes on New York in 2012-2013 and she wants to take a

symphony orchestra if possible!)

If you missed the sign-up during spring registration, just

let your counselor know that you want to add it to your

schedule.

Don’t miss out! Become a part of the Redmond Re-

gion’s newest musical venture.

performances!

MUSIC IS GOOD FOR YOU! Our orchestra students make beautiful music. Just as

important, they are building brain power. As a group

of neuroscientists recently noted, music training re-

shapes the brain in ways that convey broader cogni-

tive benefits. Music lessons, they say, improve IQ and

nourish memory, coordination, and attentiveness.

Let’s make sure our students continue to have the opportunities that a

strong and well-rounded music program brings: support the Redmond

Region Orchestra Boosters with your tax-deductible donation. We support

instruments, music, travel, competitions, and the extras that ensure all our

students have the chance to perform at their best.

To learn how to donate—and to read more about the recent studies at-

testing to the benefits of music study, please visit our web site:
