Es un tiempo para alejar las distracciones y enfocarnos más intensamente en nuestra vida espiritual. El mejor espacio para empezar es el sacramento

de la reconciliación. A través de este sacramento el Señor derrama sobre nosotros su misericordia y compasión. Reflexionemos sobre la manera en que no hemos vivido de acuerdo a nuestra vocación cristiana y busquemos la ayuda del Señor para hacerlo mejor. Así como lo buscamos durante estos 40 días, Él también nos está buscando. Él conoce nuestros pecados y defectos y aun así nos ama. Él desea que estemos cerca de Él y por esa razón nos ofrece este sacramento. Aunque hay muchas oportunidades para recibir el sacramento de la penitencia durante todo el año, habrá una oportunidad especial esta cuaresma a través de “La Luz está Encendida para ti: Una Tarde de Penitencia”. Jesus went into the desert to put his life in perspective. This lent, take a fresh look at a difficult relationship in your life. Concentrate on the positive things that person does, not just the negatives. Try to understand why their behaviors “bug” you. Can you honestly share your feelings with them without attacking them? Make Lent a time to MEND and FORGIVE! By Bud Ozar

My dear friends in Christ, Lent is a time in which we reflect upon our relationship with Christ and look for ways to enter into it more fully. It is a time to set aside distractions and focus more intently on our spiritual life. The best place to begin is with the sacrament of reconciliation. Through this sacrament the Lord reaches out to shower us with His mercy and compassion. Let us reflect on the ways in which we have not lived up to our Christian vocation and seek the Lord’s help to do better. Just as we seek Him during these 40 days, He is also seeking us. He knows our sins and our failings and loves us anyway. He desires for us to be near to Him which is why He offers us this sacrament. While there are many opportunities to receive the sacrament of penance throughout the year, a special opportunity will be made available this Lent through “The Light is ON for You: An Evening of Penance.” During this event on Thursday, March 15, almost every church in our diocese will be open for the sacrament of reconciliation from 5 – 8:00 p.m. See the diocesan website dioceseofgrandrapids.org for locations and details.
