Iván Maureira Butler es Profesor Asociado y Director del Instituto de Producción y Sanidad Vegetal de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias y Alimentarias de la Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh). Es Ingeniero Agrónomo de la Universidad Austral de Chile. Posee un Ph. D. en Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics, de la University of Wisconsin-Madison. Realizó estudios Postdoctorales y como Research Associate en el Deptartment of Plant Biology, Cornell University. Sus áreas de investigación se relacionan a responder preguntas en mejoramiento genético, y genética cuantitativa y poblacional de frutales, cultivos anules y forrajes. Estudio de genomas y genes de especies vegetales domesticadas para comprender sus historias de domesticación y adaptación. Actualmente, su investigación se focaliza en el origen de la manzana Limona en la región de Los Ríos y genética de Cranberry, en donde además busca identificar genes y regiones genómicas asociados a caracteres de calidad nutricional. Las asignaturas que imparte en pregrado como responsable son genética y en postgrado ligamiento y mapeo genético y biología molecular de plantas, además de colaboraciones en diferentes asignaturas. Iván Maureira Butler es Profesor Asociado y Director del Instituto de Producción y Sanidad Vegetal de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias y Alimentarias de la Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh).
Es Ingeniero Agrónomo de la Universidad Austral de Chile. Posee un Ph. D. en Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics, de la University of Wisconsin-Madison. Realizó estudios Postdoctorales y como Research Associate en el Deptartment of Plant Biology, Cornell University.
Sus áreas de investigación se relacionan a responder preguntas en mejoramiento genético, y genética cuantitativa y poblacional de frutales, cultivos anules y forrajes. Estudio de genomas y genes de especies vegetales domesticadas para comprender sus historias de domesticación y adaptación. Actualmente, su investigación se focaliza en el origen de la manzana Limona en la región de Los Ríos y genética de Cranberry, en donde además busca identificar genes y regiones genómicas asociados a caracteres de calidad nutricional.
Las asignaturas que imparte en pregrado como responsable son genética y en postgrado ligamiento y mapeo genético y biología molecular de plantas, además de colaboraciones en diferentes asignaturas.
Agronomist, Ph.D.
Iván Maureira Butler is an Associate Professor and also the Director of the Institute of Plant Health and Production, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh).
He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Universidad Austral de Chile and earned his Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. He also held Postdoctoral and Research Associate positions at the Department of Plant Biology, Cornell University, USA.
His research areas include genetic improvement, quantitative and population genetics of fruit trees, annual crops, and forages, as well as the study of genomes and genes of plant species to understand their domestication and adaptation processes. Currently, his research focuses on the origin of the Lemon apple in the Los Rios Region and Cranberry genetics, aiming to identify genes and genomic regions associated with nutritional quality traits.
He is responsible for teaching the subjects of Genetics at undergraduate level and Genetic Linkage and Mapping and Molecular Biology of Plants at postgraduate level. He also collaborates with other subjects.
