The Computer

Good morning To one and all present here,I am going to share with you some of the information aboutCOMPUTERS.

A computeris a programmable electronic machine that receives input, stores and manipulates data,and provides output in a useful format.

The computer was basically designed to do computations ,hence got its name as computer.!

This electronic machine has three major parts or components.

They are 1. The CPU (processor)

2. The display unit

3. The input unit

The CPU is the major part which does all the works of a computer . The input unit consists of keyboardany any other device which helps user to give info to the computer for processing. And the output unit isthe major part which shows the processed data to the user .!

The first electronic computers were developed in the mid-20th century (19401945). These were the sizeof a large room, more power .calculators also play the similar role,butthe ability to store and execute lists of

instructions called programs makes computers extremely versatile, distinguishing them from calculators.

computers were basically used only for Arithmetic operations .Later its usage changed as the technology improved.

the defining feature of modern computers which distinguishes them from all other machines is that theycan be programmed. That is to say that a list ofinstructions (the program) can be given to the computerand it will store them and carry them out at some time in the future.

Programs are the major role in the development of computers

PROCESSOR:

Olden days processor speed was so slow tat it takes minutes for doing a smaal problem

But now the advanced feature lets to do operations in micro seconds

Some of the types of processors are Pentium , core2duo,i3 processors.!

One of the part of the memory is the Random Access Memory RAM.This forms the temprory storage ofthe computer.

ROM-Read only memory forms the non-erasable part and is only readable,.!

A computer's memory can be viewed as a list of cells into which numbers can be placed or read. Eachcell has a numbered "address" and can store a single number.

MOSTOFTHE COMPUTERS use a set of storage structure called the registers

These registers are the major part and different processors have different sets of registers.

The major cause for the drastic development in the computer field is that the usage of a group of programs I,e the

software

They form the most important part in the development of computers

Softwares have wide applications in all fields like research,education,medical,etc etc

Modern Computers may have the following major advantages they include

MULTITASKING,NETWORK,INCREASEDMEMORY,ETC

MULTITASKING

This includes the process of doing more than one task at the same time . in olden days the computers were to do a

single operation at a time . nowadays these got changed and this is one of the major factor which reduced the

system idle time. Thus the CPU is utilized to the maximum.

NETWORK:

one of the most important factor about the computers is netwrk. The international network , mostly called the

internet has impacted most of the people and made human living max easier.

NIC netwrk interface card helps in connecting a system with a network.

Memory:

Memory is usually addressed by using the term bits,which means two digits!

The computer can understand only binary digits!Compilers are used to convert the higher languages into binary

digits .

Memory in olden days were too low. We will not be able to store more info inside our computer.but nowadays

these memory have drastically increased to a level of more than 600GB HD.

RAM size varies from a few KBs to 4GB or more!

The operating system forms the major part which provides complete interface between the hardware and the

software

Operating system is the environment on which the application program can run .

An applicaton program is nothing but a program to solve a particular problem.

Classification Computers

These include the diff types I,e PC,workstation,laptop,palmtop.

PC : this is nothing but a simple computer with basic config that wil be present in each and everyones home for

personal use.

Workstation: this is a type of computer that has the most advanced configuration. This is used in companys and

this processes and makes work much easier

Laptop : a laptop is similar to a PC . but this is a portable computer and this is available in diff sizes and costs

Palmtop : this is a type which has the size of a palm. Hence its name

the computer forms the major part of each and every human being.its development over a very short period of

time has made the entire human kind to change into the computer world.-the 21st

century.
