External Modem

A modem that is connected on the outside of the computer . An external modem is generally

connected to the serial port or USB port.

One of the advantages of the external modem is that by looking at the display lights on the case,

one can quickly check the status of the modem.

InternalModem

It is the type of modem that is installed inside the computer. An internal modem does not provide a series of display

lights that inform the user of the changing modem status.

The user must rely entirely on the communications program.
