CompTIA Network+ validates the knowledge andskills of networking professionals. It is aninternational, vendor-neutral certification thatrecognises a technician's ability to describe thefeatures and functions of networking componentsand to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, install,operate and configure basic network infrastructure.

CompTIA Network+ certified professionals whowant to diversify their base knowledge in otherareas should also consider pursuing CompTIASecurity+, Server+ or Convergence+.

Again, McGraw-Hill offers books for both Security+objectives. The 2002 objectives retire July 31st2009 whereas the 2009 objectives were released in2008. Security+ is a certification dealing withcomputer security topics such as cryptography andaccess control. It was developed in 2002 to addressthe rise of security issues. Convergence+ validates the knowledge and skills inthe area of communications technologies.
