Water must be dechlorinated:

$ain water, s"ring water, "ond water, la&e water etc. $!it water left to stand overnight, or aerated for an hour $*or cities that use chloramines instead of chlorine (which includes +an*rancisco) add humic acid and aerate for an hour 

!om"ost should be good ualit, aerobic com"ost*or fungal brews, use a com"ost with a fungal base-i.e. wood chi"s, s"entmushroom strata, good aged com"ost that ehibits mcelial coloniation

/um" can be a sim"le air "um" for an auarium-but get a higher rating thanou would use for a fish tan&. A "um" rated for 01 gallons wor&s reall well in afive gallon buc&et and reasonabl well in a garbage can
