Background and IntroductionBackground and Introduction
In 1991, Iijima discovered carbon nanotubes with the exceptional properties such as excellent mechanical strength and optical properties, high electrical and thermal conductivities.

- Reported results: Young’s modulus ~ 1000 GPa (100x Kevlar, tensile strength ~ 30 GPa (10x Kevlar)- Can be conductive or semiconductive- High thermal conductivity (10x copper)- Disperse SWNTs in polymers using a dispersing

Surfactants can disperse SWNTs in aqueous solution without forming chemical bonds with the tubes not affect the tube properties.
Emulsion
Are systems in which liquid droplets (discontinuous phase) are dispersed in an immiscible liquid (continuous phase). However, for the system to be stable enough to be called an “emulsion” , the emulsifying agent, which usually is a surface active agent, must be present.

Future Directions:
Well. If we want to make this process as industrial scale, We need to change the extraction of SDBS by Soxhlet because soxhlet process is not practical a big scale with another process. I’m working using membranes instead of Soxhlet
