Step by step instructions for using The Insurance Barn’s website to shop and apply

for health insurance.AETNA

The first step is to go to our web site. In your internet browser enter our address

Once you are on our web site click on the state where you live. This slide show assumes the applicant lives in Texas.

On this page you will scroll down to the box for Aetna.

The Aetna box is located about half way down the page on the right side.

Click on the box for Aetna and a new window should open in your browser. On this page you may shop and apply for health insurance directly with Aetna.

On this page you will need to enter the zip code where you live.

After you have entered your zip code the screen will change and ask you for the effective date for the plan in which you are interested.

The drop down menu will allow you to elect a start date for your policy for which Aetna is accepting applications.

Once you have chosen an effective date, click the orange button on the bottom left labeled, “Get A Quote.”

On this page there are 2 things you need to address.

DENTAL

The page will automatically assume you want the dental insurance rider. If you do not want it, click on the box to remove the check mark.

DEMOGRAPHIC

In this area you will enter in the gender and date of birth for each person to be insured.

This page gives you a brief description and rates for all the plans Aetna offers.

To compare benefits and rates between plan click in the box in the upper left hand corner for the plans you want a closer look and then the button at the top labeled, “Compare Plans”

If you already know which plan you want, click the orange button labeled, “Apply Now” to the right of the plan you wish.

If you clicked the button to compare plans you were brought to a page that looks like this.

Once you have found the plan that best meets your needs you may click on the orange button labeled, “Apply Now.”

If this is your first time at the Aetna web site you will need to register before the site will allow you to submit your application.

To register click the box in the column on the left labeled, “Register Now.”

If you clicked on the “Register Now” button you were taken to this page.

Here you will be asked to set up a Username and Password along with basic information about yourself.

The biggest thing to remember is to write down the Username and Password you use. If you have any problems with your application or wish to check its underwriting status in the future you will need it.

Once you have entered in all the information requested click the button at the bottom labeled, “Continue.”

After you click “Continue” you will be given a confirmation screen to confirm your security choices.

You may print it, if you like, for future reference or make a handwritten note of your Username, Password and Security Questions.

After you have made your reminder click on the button to “Continue” and follow the prompts to complete your application.
