6. pass-fail credit: beginning with the fall semester of 1967, a student who has completed at least 55 semester hours of credit is entitled to enroll under the pass-fail system of grading in free electives. the student is restricted to only one such enrollment per semester and a maximum of four such enrollments. the grade P indicates “pass” and the grade F indicates “fail.” courses taken on the pass-fail basis prior to fall semester 1976 are not included in the student’s grade point average. beginning with the fall semester 1976, grades of F earned on the pass-fail basis are included in the student’s grade point average. grades of P do not earn grade points and are not counted in the students grade point average. courses passed under the pass-fail system are counted in the total courses required for graduation.

7. departmental honors program: certain upper division and senior graduate courses have been designated by departments to be taken for honors.

8. scholastic honors: beginning with the fall semester 1981 there are three levels of undergraduate university scholastic honors at graduation: summa cum laude, magna cum laude, and cum laude. Summa cum laude requires a cumulative grade point average 3.95; magna cum laude requires a cumulative grade point average of 3.90 and cum laude requires a cumulative grade point average of 3.85.

9. Undergraduate courses transferred from other colleges are listed on this transcript as Pittsburg State University equivalents.
