Our products are split into three ranges:

Essentials Right on Price

A range of products which are commonplace in the market and where the

purchasing decision is influenced by price. The customer will be looking for a

product which is totally fit for purpose but also very cost effective. Townscape

can offer fast or next day delivery on this range of products.

Principles Right on Choice

High specification products which most often benefit from longer life cycles and

reduced maintenance requirements. In addition to serviceability appearance

is extremely important. A number of standard product options are available to

enable the customer to customise our product. The products may be specified

by contractors who are responsible for on-going maintenance. Price remains

important but is not the only factor to be considered when selecting items from

this range.

Innovations Right on Design

Product specification tends to be very much customer driven and often the

enquiry is more project rather than product driven. The range is a collection

of unique designs and bespoke product.

Introduction

Townscape has been established for over 30 years as a specialist designer and manufacturer of street

furniture products and paving. We are unique in our ability to produce items in concrete, steel, cast

iron, timber and polymer all within our in-house manufacturing facilities based in Nottinghamshire.

We offer a wide choice of product and finish to suit all architectural and environmental projects

externally and internally. In addition we can offer a bespoke service for both design and manufacture.

Ordering

To help us process your order efficiently and to ensure that all items ordered are supplied correctly,

please specify all product stock codes and the quantity of each item required. If a range of colours is

available, specify the required colour quoting the name and the code number from the

swatch provided.

An order acknowledgement will then be returned to you. Please check thoroughly all the information

contained within this order acknowledgement, making sure that all the items you require are

contained within it, and to your required specification.

All orders are accepted to Townscape Products Limited. Terms and Conditions available on request,

unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Every order, no matter how small, is important to us, so there is no minimum order charge.

Design, Specification and Pricing

Dimensions are in millimetres, capacities in litres and weights in kilograms. These are approximate

and do not form any part of the contract.

Townscape offers a range of bollards in a material to suit every type of application. Both modern and traditional designs are available and they are suitable for permanent in ground fixing or can be removable.

The main function of a bollard is to provide an open barrier to separate pedestrians from vehicles. Increasingly they can also act as a protective ram-raid feature around a building or other vulnerable area. The end use of a bollard will affect the design selection process as the visibility in terms of height, width and finish will have to be considered. The bollards can be personalised to customer requirements and have optional features added such as reflective strips, badges, stubbing plates and eyebolts.

Concrete BollardsProducts can be produced with smooth grey finish (OPC) or smooth plain white finish (PW). A range of ten Prestige finishes to match the paving products is also available. Exposed aggregate surface finishes using river bed materials, granites or limestone aggregates are produced to complement alternative concrete products. The product used can be made to appear differently by use of an alternative matrix material. Aggregates can also be varied from 6mm 14mm graded materials.

Concrete will always exceed the minimum requirement of 30N/mm2. Bollards will be cast with an internal steel re-inforcement cage, which will in the event of severe impact maintain the integrity of the unit.

Polymer BollardsA high quality engineering grade polyurethylene cast around a mild steel core section. The polyurethylene will be pigmented to create a match to the final 2 pack polyurethylene, wet spray application, gloss finish.

Stainless Steel BollardsHollow tubular and square sections. Grade 304 Stainless steel with a satin finish suitable for all inland installations or Grade 316 Stainless steel which is more suited to coastal installations. Polished finish on sections can be achieved.

Steel BollardsTubular or square hollow sections. Prior to finishing all steel is shotblasted, steel can be supplied primed only, electro zinc plated and powder coated or hot dipped galvanised.

Timber BollardsHardwood timbers supplied from managed forests. FSC certified timber can be supplied if specified by the customer.

Cast Iron BollardsDuctile cast iron with high tensile strength as opposed to grey cast iron with minimal tensile strength is used for bollards. Cast iron products are finished using a high zinc protective priming coat before powder coating.

Leicester Recognise the Lifecycle Benefits of Polymer

In common with every other council across the UK, Leicester City Council is continuously striving to get best value on their purchases. One area where Townscape has been able to help most recently is in the supply of a cost effective bollard solution. For many years the Council have stocked and installed a unique design cast iron bollard. The bollard is installed extensively throughout the City. The case study review identified a number of issues which required an innovative solution.

The cast iron bollard is extremely heavy, 68Kg to be precise and the manual handling implications for the installation team were considerable. Townscapes solution was to manufacture an exact copy of the Leicester bollard in their lightweight, durable polymer compound. The new polymer bollard weighed only 22Kg and therefore after proper training was a safe lift for one person.

The Citys image is very important to the Council and to maintain the high standards they strive for, the cast iron bollards needed to be re-painted at least once in the first 5 years sometimes every couple of years in the most exposed locations. This has now become prohibitive in terms of time and money. The benefit of Townscapes polymer bollards is that they are effectively maintenance free during the initial 10 year period. Even then the application of a coat of paint is for cosmetic reasons. The bollards are not quite but almost fit and forget.

Because the bollards are used in a lot of different situations, from simple pedestrian segregation to highways applications, the Townscape polymer bollard was also available as a full Ram Raid bollard. This was accomplished by the use of their multi core design. Importantly these bollards are identical in terms of external appearance. To ensure service levels are consistent and timely Townscape holds a quantity of the bollards in stock for next day delivery.

Most of the Townscape bollard designs can be adapted to suit a post and rail system or a barrier

application. They can be produced in steel, stainless steel, polymer or timber in a traditional or

contemporary style. Polymer is a material particularly suited to coastal situations as it is resistant to

sea salt, sand damage and benefits from generally low maintenance.

Most post and rail is fixed into the ground although on-ground fix is available. Slopes and angles can

be accommodated.

Hoop barriers can have a single or double rail added to give extra visibility when installed. They are

used to protect pedestrians and cyclists from traffic flow and because of their simple structure, they

can be produced to a variety of heights and lengths.

Love of the BogsThe Problem........We needed to find a solution to produce a matching post and rail system which had the strength of cast iron but was low on maintenance.

The Solution........We made a new set of moulds and produced the product in heavy duty low maintenance polymer.

The Outcome........This site was featured on BBC East Midlands Today.

Without a little help from its friends, Bulwell Bogs could have

been demolished in 2002. However, the futures looking good for

the popular play area.

Bulwell Bogs is a park for families to play, paddle and fish.

In fact, its been known as the Bogs for around 900 years.

The area is located next to the River Leen in the centre of Bulwell,

and even has its own campaign group.

Theyre called the Friends of the Bogs... Jackie Morris, who is the

Chair of the group, explains its appeal:

This was our playground. We went in the river when it was warm

and we just played here as children. Its such a special place.

Over the years, people have come to think of [The Bogs] more

with emotions than anything else so what were doing is touching

nearly everyone in Bulwell.

In 2002, the Bogs were nearly demolished to make way for a

transport interchange.

Due to public opposition, the City Council eventually scrapped the

plans. Jackie was prepared to take extreme measures.

I threatened to chain myself to the railings on the bridge...

I was very thankful they didnt put me to the test because I dont

think I would have liked to have been down here all night on my

own.

Jackie says:

Its the accumulation of nearly four years work to replace the old

tired paddling pool and get a state of the art water-park for the

people of Bulwell.

With friends like Jackie, the Bogs will be open for generations to

come........

Designer Stainless Steel Bollard & Barriers go Al Fresco

Townscape has been very active in the bespoke street furniture market for many years. In part this

has been driven by the Companys unique ability to design and manufacture to the clients specific

brief and in a range of materials. We have a proven track record in concrete, timber, polymer and

steel products, quite often utilising a combination of materials to deliver the project concept.

The latest example of this design innovation in action is on show at the Tamatanga restaurant in the

heart of Nottinghams Cornerhouse region. The restaurant prides itself in doing things differently.

For a start it is branded as a canteen and the customers menu doubles up as a place mat. The

restaurant proprietor, Aman Kular approached Townscape following a recommendation from another

local business. His remit was clear; he wanted to create an outdoor, smart but casual place to eat.

Townscapes response was to design a unique stainless steel bollard and barrier

solution. The barriers provide segregation and protection to the diners whilst

helping to create the al fresco dining experience. Townscape was able to deliver the

complete turnkey package. After the initial site survey Townscape supported the client

through the planning stage. The bespoke design and manufacture was undertaken in

Townscapes UK manufacturing facility and followed by a full installation service.

Townscape has been successful in securing a number of prestigious projects, both in the general

Seats, benches, dining sets are all offered in the Townscape range and each design offers unique

features but they all have a common theme of quality construction, highly durable surface finish

and functionality in performance. Great care is taken at the design stage to ensure that seat

height, backrest pitch and armrest angle provide safety and comfort for the user as well as being

aesthetically pleasing.

All styles of designs are included in the range from traditional cast iron seats to highly polished

stainless steel benches. Dining sets are functional and inviting. Products are available in concrete,

steel, stainless steel, cast iron, timber, polymer and recycled plastic.

Cast Iron SeatingSeat ends from ductile cast iron will resist low speed impact and not break. Ductile cast iron has a

high tensile strength. Cast iron products are finished using a high zinc protective priming coat before

powder coating.

Concrete SeatingProducts can be produced with smooth grey finish (OPC) or smooth plain white finish (PW). A range

of ten Prestige finishes to match the paving products is also available. Exposed aggregate surface

finishes using river bed materials, granites or limestone aggregates are produced to complement

alternative concrete products. Aggregates can also be varied from 6mm 14mm graded materials.

Concrete will always exceed the minimum requirement of 30N/mm2. These may be completely cast

products, or component parts such as seat top, seat end frames or supports. The latter two items

generally combine with elements from contrasting materials such as timber, steel or stainless steel

Stainless Steel SeatingGrade 316 stainless steel. Satin finish.

Steel Seating. Steel sections will be shot blasted and zinc plated prior to powder coating . Perforated plate and sheet

material will be cleaned prior to electro zinc plating and powder coating.

Timber Seating Hardwood timber slats all supplied from managed forests and treated with Sadolin Natural to

enhance wood grain and colour. FSC certified timber can be supplied if specified by the customer.

Polymer Seating A high quality engineering grade polyurethylene cast around a mild steel core section. The

polyurethylene will be pigmented to create a match to the final 2 pack polyurethylene, wet spray

application, gloss finish.

Within Disneyland Resort Paris, the Village provides restaurants, cinemas, dancing and live entertainment for the thousands of visitors throughout the year.

The Baltimore seat has been specified for use within this Village area for its quality, and elegantly refined appearance combined with the material strength and durability that it offers.

The style of this seat is both classical and timeless which allows the products to enhance all types of architectural environment.

The porthole circular feature has become the symbol of the Baltimore range and this

original circular theme is carried through the whole range. It is an ideal place to personalise the units by featuring special insignia. An inscription service is also available offering wording engraved on a timber seat slat.

The standard seat has seventeen substantial timber slats supported at each end and by intermediate straps that maintain the true alignment and prevent unsightly bowing and bending. Intermediate armrests can also be fitted that will create individual seating positions and prevent the seating being used for alternative purposes.

ProductsOld Eldon Square War Memorial - Newcastle upon TyneTownscape has been very active in the bespoke street furniture market for many years. In part this has been driven by the Companys unique ability to design and manufacture to the clients specific brief and in a range of materials. We were therefore delighted to be asked by Newcastle City Council to help with the regeneration of Old Eldon Square war memorial. This involved the development of bespoke plaques incorporated into the design of Townscapes Baltimore seats each of which represents UK forces regiments over the past 90 years. The placement of an additional engraved brass plaque detailing the regiment name and years of service was also placed on the back of the seat as a fitting reminder to the efforts undertaken by UK forces in a number of campaigns. The Baltimore Seat was chosen from a number of designs by the veterans group as the best solution for representing the heritage of the past and being comfortable enough to allow for a few moments rest and reflection in the heart of a thriving city retail space. Additionally a seat that was strong and robust was also a requirement as the memorial garden will be an important part of Remembrance Day services for years to come. Crown Seat With Arms

The main body of the bench is manufactured from concrete that has a fine textured etchedsurface finish from Prestige grey mix. The steel element is zinc plated and powder coated to a choice of colour from our standard range.

The bench seat is 2.0 metre long and 510mm wide with a seating height of 463mm. The back rest is set in 300mm from each end giving an overall back length of 1800mm and stands approximately 400mm above seat level.

The timber top facing is made from Idigbo timber.

TOWNSCAPE has developed an extensive range of external furniture to enhance the landscaped areas of North Middlesex University Hospitals new development, due to open in June 2010.

The company worked very closely with the Bougyues Consortium, which built and co-funded the 118m project, under the Private Finance Initiative (PFI), and the project architect Gillespies.

Sandringham Seat

Seats 3 or 4 people and is manufactured from mild steel with hardwood timber seating slats. The seat measures 1820 overall length, height 780mm and a depth of 620mm.

A substantial steel frame with tubular top and bottom rail fitted with six vertically placed tie bars, each one with welded tab to locate security fixing into slats. Six Sapele hardwood slats form the seat support and are fitted to form a comfortable sitting position. The unit is mounted on two closed top tubular legs set at 1200mm centres, each with three distinctive grooves machined to create a design feature, the base plate is shaped and has four drilled fixing positions in each.

Voltan Range

The Voltan range offers an extensive choice of seating elements to fulfil any requirement. The well formed design provides both comfort and support together with versatility. Distinguished by the circular perforated pattern the seating units are manufactured from 2.00mm sheet steel that is zinc plated prior to powder coating. All Voltan seat designs will ensure that the seat skin support elements are bolted together in order to allow each component to receive full plating and painting treatment.

Seating elements are available as single, two or three seat units, these can be joined to form multi-seat options. The seats can be formed to create radial seating or positioned back to back. A bank of individual seating positions is provided with the Trio seat, this incorporates the 525mm wide single seat skin. Flat or round section armrests can be provided with any seat, these can be fitted at each end or at intermediate positions. Various options are available for surface mounting. The pedestal leg is a standard feature throughout, although various on ground leg options may also be considered, in ground fixing and wall fixing brackets can be provided. The seat units are also used to create alternative seating such as picnic or dining sets.

Voltan bench units (no back rest) manufactured from the same high quality material offers an alternative form of providing seating positions. These are again available in various lengths to provide the single, two or three seating unit, and can be used together to form extended or multi seat options.

All seats and benches can be supplied with a wide range of concrete support legs that can be used to co-ordinate with prestige paving products.

High level perch seating units, in varying lengths, to create temporary rest positions are also available in this range.

The construction of the seating range allows for a maximum of three colours to be used on a single unit.
