Content This course will equip the participant with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of sling and rigging hardware types, their correct applications and to identify correctly fabricated sling assemblies. This is all part of the education process to developing one’s ability to confidently identify sling and hardware defects and failures along with the probable causes of identified defects and failures. General : • Inspection Types - Initial, frequent and periodic. • Proof Testing - Review pull-testing requirements for wire rope, alloy chain, metal mesh, synthetic web and synthetic roundslings. Sling Inspection: Review the following sling types and their respective tagging and general inspection requirements. Includes a demonstration of periodic inspection requirements per the current ASME B.30.9 Standard. • Roundslings • Web Slings • Wire Rope Slings • Alloy Chain Slings • Wire Mesh Sling Hardware Inspection: Review the following types of rigging hardware and their respective identification requirements and proper use. Includes a demonstration of periodic inspection requirements per the current ASME B.30.10 and B.30.26 Standards. • Shackles • G-Link™ Connectors • Eyebolt & Swivel Hoist Rings • Turnbuckles • Wire Rope Clips • Hooks, Master Links Why You Should Attend As per ASME standards, initial, frequent and periodic inspections must be done by a designate person. Offered in partnership with Instructor Harley Gist, Trainer, The Rigging Institute Harley has owned and operated Construction Rigging Consultants (CRC) since 1994, and is currently the lead instructor for Rigging Institute, LLC. He has over 10 years experience as an industrial instructor teaching basic to advance rigging courses and rigging gear inspection.
