I am looking forward to the St Peter’s production of ‘Alice’, next week. This

week

in 3M

we

visited the Biology

department at St

Olaves. We went to

visit Mr Mallard and his tropical fish tank! We have

been learning all about fish that live under the sea

as part of our topic so this was a great treat! Mr

Mallard showed us how he feeds the fish, cleans

the tank and told us all about how to look after the

different fish, shrimp, clams and corals! A big thank

-you to Mrs Hall for the tip off, Mr Mallard, the

Biology department staff and our special slithering

visitor…that really surprised Miss Morgan!

2H have been getting used to using the library this

week and we enjoyed listening to a story and

choosing a new book. There are some important

things to remember, so please see a message from Mrs Hall

in this newsletter!

Our library at Clifton is much loved already! Please may we remind you of one or two things?

Remember to put a book back by scanning the book’s barcode and then putting it into the Returns Box. If you just put it on the shelf without scanning it, it will still be yours and you won’t be able to have another! Our Librarians will put all books back on the right shelves during their duty time.

If a book becomes damaged when you are looking at it, please give it to either Mrs Hall or Mrs Headlam-Morley to be mended.

This week 3C have been researching sharks following our trip to The Deep. We have used books and the internet to find out about their appearance, habitat and many other things. Pop into see the reports

we have written on sharks next week.

2S spent a lovely morning this week,

enjoying another walk around York together

with 2H. In their quest to find information

about the history of York, Year 2 have now

reached the Georgian era. The first visit was

to the Dragon Twins, who regularly send us

riddles requesting information about

buildings in the city. We then went to the

Assembly Rooms where Ask Restaurant

very kindly gave the children some juice

whilst they sat drawing some of the beautiful

features of the building.

The children have been working really hard towards their class assembly this week. On Thursday they

performed to all the Mums and Dads and the whole school, a very big challenge! Afterwards the

children were delighted to show off their work in the classroom to the Mums, Dads and

grandparents. Thank you to everyone for coming along to watch.

In 3ST our Water topic has well and truly moved on from learning about The Titanic , so it was time to take the display down. Before we did we decided to make it sink to the bottom of The Atlantic!

Year 1 have had an amazing

time orienteering. Mr

Snowdon taught them all

about different mapping and

orienteering skills. They

used a map to navigate

around the school grounds

and used the skills learnt in

the morning to

complete

various

orienteering

tasks in the

afternoon.

Our Library Team doing duties until

February half-term.

The Highwayman of Doom

By Joshua

In Leeds a highwayman named the highwayman of doom is about to shoot a stagecoach and I am in it! Luckily I am armed with six pistols and one flintlock musket. I also have ten extra bullets. I tried to shoot the highwayman but when someone screamed it distracted me so I missed. I then took a horse and chased after the highwayman of doom with my flintlock musket and then I saw a ghost highwayman. Then I thought oh no! But he was actually a good ghost highwayman and he said I’ll kill the highwayman of doom for you!

15.11.13

The Highwayman

Once upon a time there was a kind highwayman called Stanly the astonishing. He had one horse called Bom. He had a smart cloak and some boots some army shorts and a mask that covers his mouth. He has a French hat on his head. He was rich. His next door neighbour was poor so he had to give his next door neighbour some money. But he didn’t want to give it to his next door neighbour because if he gave the money then they would just say that god wanted them to be poor. So I think I should put the money on the doorstep once I’ve got it. So the next night he got onto Bom his horse and rode away into the dark wood. He saw a horse and carriage so he pulled out his gun. The horse and carriage had horses and 4 passengers. Then Bom jumped out from the bushes and landed with a loud bang! Stanly got out his gun and said money or frogs in your boots! The person in the carriage said I want you to clean my boots and my sons boots. Stanly cleaned the sons and dads boots. So the son and the dad gave Stanly 50 pounds. So Stanly got onto his horse Bom and rode back into the woods. He left the 50 pounds on his next door neighbours doorstep and rided back to his grand house. The next door neighbour opened their door and picked up the 50 pounds and brought the money inside and lived happily ever after. Cameron W 2S

Ahoy there land lubbers! This week in RJ we have been to pirate school. The children have been learning how to make swords, hats, eye patches, hooks and even bows and arrows. This has involved practising our fine motor skills, cutting, folding and knot tying. The children have also have written clues with magic pens practising our tricky words and turned our play loft into a pirate ship named’ Black Beauty’.

Mr Darcy, is

that my name on your dance card?
