been long abandoned”- Religious beliefs have been inexistent in Oceania for a while now since there are no longer sermons or preachers to address the liturgy. The only religion in 1984 is Big Brother and the religion espoused by the party.

Fahrenheit 451• “The faces of those enameled

creatures meant nothing to him”- Montag was standing in this ”strange” church for a while trying to better understand the Christian religion, however, he could not decipher the faces of the saints because he had never studied the practice of any religion. The primary form of religion is instead the fire department.
