Dalian Modern Museum

Dalian Modern Museum is located on the west of Dalian

Xinghai Square, opened in 2002. Dalian Modern Museum is

the first "modern" title integrated museum in China. The

exhibitions include more than 3000 displaces, over1860

pictures, 61 models and 43 sculptures. The representative

exhibits are the Sinian Sedimentary rock cracking stone

(600 million years ago), iron bell of Tiande Temple and diamond with high quality from the city of

Wafangdian.

Xinghai Square

"Xinghai" literally means "the Sea of Stars". Xinghai

Square is dubbed the largest city square in Asia. It is

located north of Xinghai Bay.

There is a sculpture named "the road", which was

built in 1997 for celebration of 100th anniversary of

the city. It is composed of two parts: one part is the

footmark emboss, the other one is a curved square

like an opened book. The footprint emboss has over 1000 pairs of footprints, every pair of footprints is

from a well-known master. These footprints are sorted by age and the ones in the first row were the

people born in 1899, it's the year when Dalian city was established. The last line is the one who was born

in 1999. These footprints mean that Dalian's 100 years history is created by the hard-working people of

Dalian.

Heping Square Mall (Capita Mall Peace Plaza)

It’s a large shopping mall offering fashion, entertainment

and F&B. It is the closest mall to the John Harward Hotel. It

will take about10 minutes from the workshop hotel to the

mall by foot.

Binhai Road (Coastal Road)

Binhai Road of Dalian stretches about 40 km along from

the southern edge of the Dalian Peninsula. In spring, one

side of the road is mountainous area covered with

thriving forests, flourishing flowers, while the other

sideisthe steep and rugged cliffs, the panoramic

coastline and sea. Thanks to the clear, fresh air and the

beautiful seashore, Binhai Road has been nicknamed by

locals "the natural oxygen bar".

Mount Bird's Nest

For romantic souls, the Mount Birds Nest will surely make you love your mate more than before, for it is

about coastal scenery ideal for couples, which is often used for weddings and other ceremonies

Tigers Sculpture Square

The marble tigers, located on the east of Tiger Beach Ocean Park, are the largest sculpture of animals in

China. The length of the sculpture is 35.5 meters and the height is 6.5 meters.

Yingbin Road

Yingbin Road is a scenery road to Bangchui Island Resort, east to Tiger Beach Park. The cool fresh breeze

will kiss your face and the manicured lawns will appear before you.

Japanese Street (Nanshan Street)

Japanese Street has over 120 villas designed in a wide variety of styles. All the base installations are

introduced from Japan and displayed Japanese ideas. There are some tea houses and performance halls.

Lunch will be served at (a restaurantin) Fifteen-Shed of Dalian Port.

(Fifteen-shed is an old building where there are several restaurants.)

Fifteen-Shed

Fifteen-shed was built in 1929. As the largest construction area in East Asia and the highest degree of

mechanization of the port warehouse, it is known as the first shed in East Asia.Through the window, you

canoverlook the Dalian Port which was built in 1898.

East Port

The old port area at the east end of Dalian is now changed into a

scenery park of Oriental Venice with 4 km long artificial canal. Dalian

international conference center is located in Donggang as well.

Russian Street

Russian Street is the oldest street in Dalian. The customs of Russian are shown by its authentic

architecture style. With European style architectures, there are Russian restaurants, nightclubs, pubs, arts

and crafts as well as souvenir shops, etc. There are also wax statues of the officials and tour scenes of

administrative officials in 1920s and 1930s.

Harbour Square

Harbour Square is a collection of sculpture of a ship (floating

body), waterscape and plant landscape.

Zhongshan Square

Built up in 1899 by Russians, it's the oldest square in Dalian.

Its name evolved from the "Nicholas Square" under Tsarist

Russian concession, to "Big Plaza" within the Japanese

colonization, and then "Zhongshan" (the formal name of Mr.

Sun Yat-sen) after the Liberation (world wall II) (1945).

The square is also the first musical square in China.

Youhao Square

In Chinese, "Youhao" means "Friendship". The square was built in the Tsarist Russia colonial period, and

had the name "West Plaza" under Japanese reign. Later for the sake of commemorating the friendship

between PRC and the Soviet Union, the name of "Youhao" was initiated, and a giant "crystal ball" was set

up in 1996.

People’s Square

People’s Square is a large square in front of Dalian Government. It was formerly known as Stalin Square

and was built for commemorating the Red Army of the Soviet Union's liberation in northeastern China.

East Jiguan Mountain

East Jiguan Mountain (East Crest Hill) was a battlefield during Russo-Japanese War in 1904. It was in the

place that the Russian army established a strong fortress after Lushun became a territory leased to Russia

1898. A museum was built in 1997 to display historical materials of the war.

Baiyu Hill (White Jade Hill)

A 130-meter-high (427-foot-high) hill standing in the center of Lushun Region is the central scenic spot.

The name 'White Jade' was given by Li Hongzhang, an influential official of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).The

Park of White Jade Hill includes the Naval Weapon Museum, Bird Garden and Rock Museum. In 1985, the

tower was formally renamed Baiyu Tower. A Cannon with a 210-mm-diameter barrel is displayed on the

hillside nearby. It was originally bought by the Qing Dynasty from the Krupp Arsenal Germany.

Old Railway Station

Lushun Railway Station is the final stop of the Dalian-Lushun

branch of the Dalian-Harbin railway. It sits on the east side

of the Long River, within a hundred meters of the Lushun

Naval Port, the building being of the Russian-style wooden

architecture. In 1898, Russia obtained the Kwantung Leased

Territory and started construction of Chinese Eastern

Railway. In 1903, Lushun Railway Station was completed and put into operation. In 1905, after falling to

the Japanese, the Russian broad gauge of the Dalian-Lushun branch line was changed to the Japanese

narrow gauge. In 1985, it has become a Cultural Heritage site of Dalian City.

Shengli Tower (Victory Tower)

Victory Tower is constructed before the Soviet

withdrew Lushun. It was started in March, 1955 and

completed in September in the same year. The tower

is magnificent and 45 meters in height, covering

15,000 square meters.

Youyi Tower (Sino-Soviet Friendship Tower)

Located in front of Lushun Museum, surrounded by

78 evergreen Gulong Cypresses, Sino-Soviet

Friendship Tower is standing among the trees. With

the height of 22.2 meters, the tower is cylindrical,

built of the rare snow marbles, and it is in delicate

shape. The completion of the tower was on Feb. 23,

1955, and the inscription of “Sino-Soviet Friendship Tower Foundation” on the foundation stone was

written by Premier Zhou Enlai. The following participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony: Soong

Ching-ling, Vice President of PRC, Marshal Peng Dehuai, Marshal He Long, Marshal Nie Rongzhen, a

famous Chinese litterateur Guo Moruo and Eugene, the Soviet ambassador to China. Blooming peonies,

soaring pigeons and clouds are craved on the top of the handrails, which are representations our national

art style. Scenes of Tiananmen Square in Beijing, the Kremlin in Soviet Union, blast furnace of Anshan Iron

and Steel Group Corporation, Friendship Farm and the Port Author are embossed at the bottom of the

tower body.

Lushun Museum

Lushun Museum is China's largest garden museum in terms of

its floor space.

The museum is opposite the Lushun Friendship Tower. It is originally built in 1917, and has gone through

several name changes since then. In 1954, it was finally named the Lushun Museum, and Mr. Guo Moruo,

a famous Chinese litterateur, provided the calligraphic inscription for the main gate. With an exhibition

area of 1,800 square meters and an attached area of 500 square meters, the museum houses 30,000

cultural relics of ancient and modern times including the fascinating Xinjiang mummy exhibition.

In the cultural relics area there are examples of bronze carved handicrafts, lacquer ware and cloisonné,

pottery handicrafts, calligraphy and paintings, and some Buddhist artwork. Among the exhibits, there are

many treasures, the most famous is the bronze "double dragon basin" of the Song Dynasty.

Lushun Longwangtang Cherry Blossom Park(Dragon King

PondCherry Blossom Park)

Longwangtang is a reservoir for providing water for Dalian

city,built in 1921. The cherry trees, planted downstream from the

reservoirdam, come into full bloom in late April. It is one of the

two most famous cherry blossom parks in China.

Cheongsam Club

Cheongsam is a long dress with a high collar and slit skirt, traditionally worn by Chinese

women. The club has an exhibition on the Cheongsam culture and Cheongsams of different

styles. You may also take on some of them to have a wearing experience.
