To mark the change, steely grey with a lucent flaming glass gob – our new logo – represents the whole strength of our division that brings out the highest quality ‘made in Germany’ with a staff of 85 employees at the headquarters in Essen, Germany.
The ‘new’ GPS is a true trail-blazer in technical details, with more than 500 IS machines
Brand-new GPS Glasproduktions-
Service GmbH has arrived!
A significantly extended range of IS
(Individual Section) machine types
and innovative components with new
range of customer services to boost
high-quality production. Our new logo
launches a new era…
Klaus Rudolph, Chairman of the Management Board at GPS Glasproduktions-Service GmbH, Essen/Germany
installed across the globe and a well-established worldwide supply network, a real pioneer in sustain-ability offering end-to-end life-cycle management model. “Our brand new corporate identity shows that we do not only live an innovative culture, but we breathe it!” explains Klaus Rudolph, Chairman of the Management Board. He strongly believes that the innovative culture means inno-vating development throughout the entire manufacturing process.
COMPLETE ALL-YOU-NEED PACKAGES FROM JUST ONE PROVIDER
Wolfgang Korzak, General Manager GPS, considers a full reliable customer service to be the most important criteria: “It begins with the very first tech-nical specification and it goes on throughout the complete life-cycle process of an IS machine.” Wolfgang Korzak explains that service means “Yes, of course, we are available 24 hours a day through our Service-Hotline, but this is not enough! Much more than this, we are here to help in the long term, I mean, through-out the entire process.”
TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTSStephan Rosenstein is R&D
Manager at GPS. He explains that the key element in today’s good container glass production is developing comprehensive and harmonized solutions that relate to the entire gob-forming pro-cess. Well geared to each other, they must allow an intuitive and ‘easy-to operate’ handling and certainly offer both a long service life and honest cost ratios.
In this context, Stephan Rosenstein refers to the new port-folio regarding the triple produc-tion capacity: in addition to three-inch triple gob machines, the GPS now also offers 4 1/4-inch triple gob machines!
Further solutions are in the

pipeline, such as a new machine station with parallel opening mechanism, a new Servo-Shear and a new valve block. But to achieve a good efficiency and sus-tainability in processing it takes much more than just perfect tech-nical equipment, Rosenstein says.
For that reason we place great importance on health and on safe-ty at work and that fits perfectly
our GPS-philosophy. Numerous features come with the new devel-opments: an ergonomic design of the entire system, for example, and individual lifting devices aim to the main objective of the GPS which is to tool up the units so that they can be operated in a sus-tainable and forward-looking way.
MORE SERVICE - HIGHER EFFICIENCY
The GPS service conception includes services starting from the planning phase of new IS machines and components through to the continuous modern-
isation of existing machines.Wolfgang Korzak, general
manager: “We help our custom-ers identify the appropriate unit, we help them coordinate the assembling on site and then we support them with great quality management!”
This means that machine audits are to be held – to con-stantly increase the efficiency of
the units, maintain their value and extend their service life – and an efficient spare part manage-ment must be implemented, as it ensures reliability over the long term.
We also see great value in the training programme and we continuously expand it. “Our colleagues working in container glass plants, who are well trained and qualified in glass production, will manage processes even better and more efficiently after having passed a training session with us,” explains Wolfgang Korzak.

tise. The affiliation with the Verallia Group means an extraor-dinary benefit to us. The produc-tion centres in our company pro-vide professional operator train-ing sessions and even make them attractive for other clients.
COMBINING CONTROLAND DRIVE DEVICES
To enable perfect control of the whole process, GPS and one of its partners has developed a new timer and drive system, based on a Siemens Simotion control unit. That allows access to a system that is highly flexible, user friendly and available all over the world.
TAKE IT FROM PRACTICE AND PUT IT INTO PRACTICE
One of the main criteria and distinguishing factors of GPS – even in the future – is its long-term experience. For over 90 years, GPS-employees have been designing, improving and main-taining machines, components and services in a close proxim-ity to container glass production itself. In other words, experience that comes out of practice and that can be transferred into the day-to-day practices. They know exactly what the colleagues at the hot-end really need. “This is what we rely on when we create

the process of renewal: our long experience!” affirms Rudolph.
In his capacity as Chairman of the Management Board, Klaus Rudolph compliments the excel-lent collaboration with Saint-Gobain Accuramech: “We are very proud to offer the highest German standards at honest costs with our partner in Pune (India),” states Rudolph, underlining that “the brand-new GPS is so spe-cial because it provides for every individual customer an individual high quality solution ‘made in Germany’.”
