Introduction
To thwart intrusion, a wide choice of physical barriers ranging from stone or brick walls down to barbed wire, chain mesh or palisades are conventionally employed. Further, in an attempt to augment the level of security offered by these physical barriers, the use of hostile wall capping and barbed/razor wire is quite common. Alas, these additional measures are ineffective in deterring determined intruders, vandals, terrorists and thieves.

Control Equipment and Accessories
At the heart of the Power Fence™ system is the energizer or controller that at pre-determined intervals transmits high voltage impulses of energy around a series of horizontal, smooth, corrosion resistant, high tensile wires, positioned 91 mm apart and supported across specially designed, cold-formed mounting and straining posts using insulators of high quality. The entire system is engineered to comply with all relevant national and international standards including BS EN 61011- “Electric Fence Energizers: Safety Requirements for Mains Operated Electric Fence Energisers”-1993.
Any attempt to tamper with the system by cutting the wires or shorting them will result in an audiovisual alarm that can be reset by authorized persons using a special key pad designed to indicate fence condition and also permits selective zone wise arming and disarming of the fence. The Power Fence™ can also be integrated with other devices such as CCTV cameras, flood lighting, auto redial mechanisms and large installations employing several control units could be monitored through a central computer employing custom designed and compatible software.

Description of Largest Power Fence™ Projects
The largest Power Fence™ projects in terms of length include a Diamond mine (7km); Chromium mine (15km) sites in Africa; Hyderabad International Airport (15km); Sahara India Parivar (5Km in Lucknow) with many of the sites in India averaging 1.2 - 2 km lengths. More than 30, 000 animal control fences have been installed by Ibex Gallagher in India. The largest projects from a high security perspective include Military and NATO sites in Europe, details of which cannot be provided at this time, as this would compromise the sites. Prisons form a group of higher security sites in Australia and the USA. Power Fences™ installed on these sites include networked Gallagher Controllers, along with anti-penetration, anti-climb and anti-leverage Power Fence™ sub-systems according to the custom specification for each.
