TRIPLE LAYERED SYRINGE FILTERS AD/X


The AD/X range is specifically designed for high particulate loaded samples. Constructed of a pigment-free polypropylene housing with two additional layers of Glass Microfibre filters. These filters eliminate sample contamination and allow you to filter even the most difficult samples with less hand pressure. AD/X syringe filters can process three to seven times more sample volume than standard syringe filters.The glass microfibre prefilters are produced from 100% borosilicate glass microfiber in Germany. Top layer retains particles to 1.0 µm. A GF/F filter then retains particles down to 0.7 µm. The prefilter stack ends with a final membrane.AD/X filter construction facilitates exceptional loading capacity with fast flow rates. This prevents the build up of back pressure typically caused by the blocking of an unprotected membrane.

agarose or acrylamide gels.

• Used in any standard fixed-angle microcentrifuge rotor at RCF up to

D - 282M CRYOCANE GP SERIES

INTRODUCING THE NEW GP SERIES, NOW BACKED BY CHART MVE’S ENGINEERS AND CERTIFIED FOR QUALITY.

MVE Stock Series tanks are primarily designed for storage of either

vials or straws on canes in liquid nitrogen. The tanks are built for long

life, durability in service and ergonomic sample retrieval, all of vital

importance for this type of storage environment. Dual lids on the

MVE 1318 aid in sample removal while retaining critical

temperatures inside the storage area. The rotating sample tray in the

1842P-150 allows for maximum storage space and easy access. All

MVE Stock units are built with an emphasis on sample security and

Submarine (Horizontal) Gel SystemsNucleic acids are routinely separated according to their mass

and structural properties by electrophoresis on Agarose gels.

Linear double stranded DNA has a constant negative charge

per unit length of molecule, resulting from the phosphate

backbone of the helix. Thus, they migrate towards the anode

during electrophoresis at a rate that is inversely proportional

to the log of the molecular mass. Electrophoretic separation

of nucleic acids therefore is strictly according to size. The

molecular mass of double stranded DNA fragments can be

determined after electrophoresis by comparison with

standards of known molecular masses.

Electrophoresis


Submarine gels, often called Horizontal agarose gels, are

routinely used in the laboratory to analyze DNA. Agarose

gels are submerged in electrophoresis buffer in a horizontal

electrophoresis apparatus. The buffer and gel form a current

bridge between the two electrode chambers. Ethidium

Bromide is mixed in the gel matrix to enable fluorescent

visualization of the DNA fragments under UV light after

electrophoresis.

In addition to its importance as an analytical tool, gel

electrophoresis is widely used for isolating and then purifying

specific fragments of DNA, usually in preparation for

subcloning. Hence, this is a very commonly required

procedure.

STERILISATION4

a. Autoclaving (121 C, 15psig for 20 minutes)- clean and rise items with distilled water before autoclaving.(Always completely disengage

threads before autoclaving) Certain chemicals which have no appreciable effect on resins at room temperature may cause deterioration

at autocalving temperatures unless removed with distilled water beforehand

b. Gas- Ethylene Oxide, formaldehyde, hydrogen peroxide

c. Dry Heat ( 160 C, 120 minutes)

d. Disinfectants-Benzalkonium chloride, formalin/formaldehyde, ethanol etc

e. Radiation-gamma irradiation at 25 kGy ( 2.5 MRad) with unstabilized plastic.

Sterilisation reduces mechanical strength. Do not use PC vessels for vacuum applications if they have been autoclaved.5

Plasticware may be cleaned by washing in mild detergent. Detergent should be rinsed off with tap water and then with distilled water.

Avoid abrasive cleaners of scouring implements. Polycarbonate must not be exposed to strong alkaline cleaning agents.

30 days of constant exposure cause no damage. Plastic may even tolerate for years.

Little or no damage after 30 days of constant exposure to the reagent.

Some effect after 7 days of constant exposure to the reagent. Depending on the plastic, the effort may be crazing, cracking, loss of strength or discoloration. Solvents may cause softening, swelling and permeation losses with LDPE, HDPE, PP, PPCO and PMP. The solvent effects on these five resins are normally reversible, the part will usually return to its normal condition after evaporation.

Not recommended for continuous use, Immediate damage may occur. Depending on the plastic, the effect will be a more severe crazing, cracking, loss of strength, discoloration, deformation, dissolution or permeation loss.
