Nepid Consultants CC is an independent environmental consultancy specialising in Environmental Project Management and Biodiversity Assessments. Founded in 2005, the company aims to provide accurate, practical and cost-effective environmental solutions that are scientifically and ethically sound. The company has a proven track record of providing services mainly to the mining and water resource sectors throughout Africa.

Team

Nepid has a core team of biodiversity specialists and a large network of associate consultants that work with the company on a regular basis. Project teams are selected to match the needs of individual projects to ensure that the best people are contracted for the work at hand.

Director

Rob Palmer – Aquatic Ecologist: Rob is the founder director of Nepid Consultants CC. He has a BSc in Zoology from the University of Cape Town, and a PhD in Aquatic Ecology from Rhodes University, South Africa. He has over 20 years’ experience in aquatic systems and specialist knowledge of river regulation and river ecology. He is a registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (No 0080/06), a member of the SA Council for Natural Scientific Professions (No 400108/95), and an accredited SASS5 biomonitoring practitioner.

Core Associates

Warren McCleland – Terrestrial Ecologist. Warren has a N.Dip. Nature Conservation and is engaged in a BSc degree in Environmental Management through UNISA. He has 14 years experience surveying flora and fauna throughout southern and south-central Africa, particularly for Environmental Impact Assessments relating to mines, water impoundments and large housing developments. He co-authored the "Field Guide to the Trees & Shrubs of Kruger National Park & Mpumalanga", published in 2002, and is currently working on a field guide to the Wildflowers of the Lowveld. Warren is a member of the Mpumalanga Plant Specialist Group, Bird Life South Africa and the Herpetological Association of Africa.

Insurance

Nepid carries Professional Indemnity Insurance of R 5,000,000, underwritten by Hollard Insurance Company. The policy covers contractual liability arising from our Professional Business Practise.

Shael Koekemoer – Diatom Specialist: Shael has an MSc in Ecological Remediation from the University of the North-West, Potchefstroom. Since 2005 she has been specialising in diatom based water quality assessments of aquatic systems. She is a member of Koekemoer Aquatic Sciences (KAS), which is a closed corporation specialising in aquatic sciences, primarily aquatic health and fisheries sciences biomonitoring of river systems.
