MEDICAL SUPPLIES

Our supply subsidiary deals with hospital equipment, physiotherapy, dentistry, laboratory equipment, and operating theatre equipment. It complements its equipment acquisition with a wide range of biomedical equipment services: from acquisition and installation, maintenance and repair, to compliance and reporting.

The company has executed several healthcare projects within Ghana and the West African sub-region in the last couple of years. The major turnkey projects undertaken by UHG include The Bank of Ghana Hospital, Winneba District Hospital, and the Tarkwa District Hospital. We have also executed major medical installation projects in Physiotherapy and Dental facilities in more than 55 facilities across Ghana including the Trust Hospital and the Maritime Hospitals.

PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN BY UNIVERSAL HOSPITALS GROUP

This is a turnkey project (design, build, and equip), a 60-bed hospital at Cantonments, Accra for the Bank of Ghana. The project is a four (4) storey building, including a Sub-Basement, as well as a three (3) storey ancillary unit 60 bed Hospital. There is an Excavation of the Basement at a depth of 3600mm below ground level which would have a parking space for 50 cars, Maintenance Workshops, Storage and Changing rooms for Staff.

The Ground Floor comprises the OPD, Radiology, Pharmacy and Emergency Departments. The floors and Walls of the Radiology Department were doubled as a result of high emission of Radiation and also in accordance with the requirement by the Nuclear Regulatory Authority.

The First Floor comprises the ENT, Eye, Urology and Maternity Departments with Delivery Suite, Theatre and Wards. The Second Floor comprises of the Laboratory and Dental Departments, Theatres and Male Wards. It also comprises the CSSD, Urology Theatre, Physiotherapy Department, Executive, Female and Children’s Ward.The Fourth Floor comprises a Kitchen, Conference and Meeting Rooms, Miscellaneous diagnostic center, VVIP and Executive Wards. The Roof Top has Store Rooms and mostly

Services Equipment. The External Works comprises of the Construction of two (2) Security Gatehouses, Perimeter fence, Driveways, Pedestrian Walkways and Soft Landscaping. Finally, the three (3) storey Ancillary block which is on stilts has the Ground Floor as Parking lots and a Driveway. The First has the Laundry, Holding Bay and Biomedical Waste Management Departments.

TURNKEY PROJECTS

The project was a turnkey package including the design and construction of the building, development and specification of the equipment package, consolidation and shipping, as well as user training and development. Our client was the Ministry of Health.

The hospital comprises various departments like the Trauma/Accident and Emergency department, two Operating Theatres, Maternity Department/Obstetrics Wards, Imaging, Laboratory, Ophthalmic, Dental, Administration, Paediatrics, Rehabilitation Centre, Pharmacy, Blood Bank and Cafeteria, as well as Laundry and Kitchen Rooms.

• TARKWA DISTRICT HOSPITAL INSTALLATION UHG supplied and equipped the 120 – bed

hospital for the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service.

• DENTAL AND PHYSIOTHERAPY EQUIPMENT

INSTALLATION The company supplied and installed

physiotherapy and dental equipment at the Trust Hospital for SSNIT.

• ECODAS T300 INSTALLATION UHG supplied and installed ECODAS T300 for

GHAPOHA Hospital for the Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA).

• INSTALLATION FOR THE MINISTRY OF

HEALTH UHG procured and installed equipment at

fifty-two (52) sites for the “Accelerating Case Detection of Tuberculosis in Ghana” for the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service.

• JICS INSTALLATION AT THE UPPER WEST REGION

UHG supplied and Installed Medical Equipment at various sites in the Upper West Region of Ghana for the Japanese International Cooperation Systems (JICS).

• SAG HOSPITAL GUINEA The company supplied and installed

Physiotherapy Equipment in SAG Hospital, Guinea for AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Ltd.

• DENTAL EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION FOR MOH

UHG designed, constructed and equipped eleven (11) Dental Centers to be operated by

Community Oral Health Officers (COHO) for the Ministry of Health at the following district hospitals: Tumu, Sandema, Salaga, Sampa, Half Assini, Juaso, Nkwanta, Donkokrom, Assin Fosu and Amasaman.

• DENTAL CLINICS FOR MOH The company designed, constructed and

equipped 10 complete Dental Clinics at the following regional hospitals: Bong, Sefwi Wiaso, and Kumasi.

• POLYCLINIC EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION UHG surveyed and planned for the upgrade

and equipping of three (3) polyclinics: Mamobi, Kaneshie and Mamprobi for the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service.

• PHOEBE HOSPITAL, LIBERIA UHG supplied and installed a ceiling mounted

X-Ray unit at Phoebe Hospital, Liberia for the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Liberia.

• NOGUCHI MEMORIAL INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL RESEARCH

The company procured and equipped for WACIPAC at the Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical Research in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

• PHYSIOTHERAPY UNITS FOR MOH UHG constructed and equipped Physiotherapy

Units with the Ministry of Health for three (3) teaching hospitals in Ghana namely Korle-Bu, Komfo-Anokye and Tamale. We also constructed, rehabilitated and equipped Physiotherapy units for seven (7) regional hospitals in Ghana namely Koforidua, Sunyani,

Cape Coast, Ho, Nkwanta, Bolgatanga and Wa.

• NASCO DIAGNOSTIC CENTRE, MONROVIA, LIBERIA

UHG designed, built and equipped a complete Diagnostic Center in Monrovia-Liberia in collaboration with Delft Imaging Systems (Universal Delft) for the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Liberia.

• PARTNERSHIP WITH E.N. PROJECTS UHG in a joint venture with E.N. Projects

supplied general medical equipment, consumables and pharmaceuticals for use across the Gambia for the Department of Health and Social Welfare, Gambia.

• NATIONAL SPORTS CENTRE, ABUJA UHG in collaboration with E.N. Projects

designed, equipped and trained staff on highly specialized regional sports testing laboratory equipment at the National Sports Centre, Abuja for the Ministry of Sports, Nigeria.
