letter from our
Owner and CEO60 Years of Successful Business Partnerships
As Custom Plastics, Inc. celebrates its 60th year in operation, and 11th year under ISO 9001-2008 certification, we are proud of our history and our ability to offer our products and services to returning and new customers as well.
The company’s longevity has to do with a few simple principles: outstanding service, credible engineering and manufacturing processes, and a top to bottom commitment to quality.
You will find the array of services we offer, including the “one-stop” shop mentality, is as much in play as it was when the company initially began in 1953. We have grown over the years, and endured some challenges along the way with regards to resin costs, resin availability, the economic status of our nation, and buyers turning first to Mexico and then China.
We are still here and thriving, while many are not. That said, we offer a partnership with you that will last indefinitely. We can assist in design and development, and be more to you than just an extruder or injection molder. The value we can add to your product is endless. While we may not be the largest manufacturer in the country, we should be the first call you make when you consider the potential we bring to you and how we intend on meeting your requirements.
Our past is extensive and filled with countless successes with contributions from the thousands of employees who have come and gone. These successes, and occasional shortfalls, inspire us to market better, perform better, and be the best at all that we do. Therefore, I feel based on the results of many of our company performance measures that we are clearly on the right path.
Our future drives us to partner with you to become that full-service processor that was first imagined some sixty years ago by the founder, Cosmo N. Tisbo. We invite you to learn about our company and all of our offering. Let’s start that prosperous step into the future together with a simple conversation - feel free to contact us anytime to discuss your plastic manufacturing needs.

The ‘Hang it Perfect’ StoryHow Custom Plastics streamlined the manufacturing of a product helping to turn it into a mulit-million dollar income generator
Mike Markz, the owner of Innovative Tools, Inc., became incredibly frustrated one day trying to hang pictures around his home as his wife continued to express that, even after hours of effort, the frames he hung on the wall were still crooked. After an unsuccessful search for a product that would simplify the task of hanging picture frames properly onto the wall, he decided he would invent a product to do exactly that. What started as a family project, Mike and his sons began assembling and packaging the Hang It Perfect out of the garage. Inevitably, demand for the product grew beyond their wildest expectations and they found themselves not being able to produce the Hang It Perfect quickly enough. That’s when Mike and his family turned to Custom Plastics...
The engineers at Custom Plastics quickly began formulating a plan to manufacture the product with the goal of saving Mike and his family money while increasing the items durability. Today, Custom Plastics injection molds numerous pieces, purchases a few small components, pad prints the yellow graphics and text onto the molded pieces, assembles, and packages the product all in house. Taking advantage of Custom Plastics’ inventory consignment program, “Hang It Perfect” products are being shipped from the Custom Plastics warehouse directly to retailers ready to hit store shelves. Custom Plastics is able to design, manufacture, assemble, package and ship the Hang It Perfect all within our facility, providing Mike and his family a great deal of cost savings and quality assurance. Today, the Hang It Perfect is sold in major retailers throughout the United States and Canada, including Home Depot, Costco, and Ace Hardware.

Once we finalize a drawing, we are able to print a 3D prototype of the product within a few hours. The customer is able to examine the prototype for fit and function and suggested changes can be made to the design by our team within hours followed by the printing of a second prototype. This process is repeated until both the customer and our engineers are satisfied with the design.
Using the approved prototype model, our team is then able to use SolidWorks MoldFlow analysis to determine if the part needs to be redesigned or adjusted prior to any tools being made. Therefore, we are able to see if the part will be molded properly, and if not, we can make adjustments before any tooling costs are incurred by the customer. By the time the mold is ordered, we already know exactly how the plastic resin, regardless of material, will flow through the mold ensuring that no additional tooling and design costs are incurred by the customer. We have invested heavily in our design and engineering capabilities in order to save our valued customers time and money.

APQP PROCESSOnce a quote is accepted,
the customer issues CPI a Purchase Order for tooling
and production
An APQP form is submitted to the project manager who then as-
signs a date and invites the cross functional, multi-departmental team to the “Kick Off Meeting.”
The project manager is then in constant, controlled communication with the customer to successfully drive projects from concept
to completion until the initial sample is submitted to the customer for approval.
A control plan is submitted to
the customer for approval.
After completion of the initial production run, quality specifications and processes
are reviewed and initial parameters are verified.
