Global ServiceGlobal Service• Repair and Support
• Minimal additional training and no new test fixtures are required to repair or support ROHS compliant vs. non-ROHS devices
• Additional software for the test fixture may be required for some products
• Repair philosophy will continue to be module level replacement
• Component level replacement will require training on solder techniques• Training is limited to Intermec direct depots or Intermec component repair vendors
only
• Spare Parts
• Many ROHS spare parts are not backward compatible
• Part numbers for some modules, main boards, & LCDs for example, between some non-ROHS and ROHS models are different and additional inventory administration will be required based on customer population
• ROHS compliant spare parts will be orderable globally by July 31
• $5M in last time buy orders have been placed for non-ROHS spares• Last time buy orders were placed against forecast of supporting customers for a
minimum of three years from EOB for each device• Ability to migrate customers to newer technology will influence service’s ability to
extend support.
