Compact temperature indicator

A high quality digital temperature indicator, DP-48, has been launched by TC Ltd. This indicator is part of the 48 Range of plug-in, modular instrumentation.

DP-48 is capable of multiple inputs and/or parallel connection with other units in the 48 Range. It caters for thermocouple types J, K and R, and 100 t~, three-wire platinum resistance thermometers. (A wide selection of standard range options is available.)

This 48x96mm unit clearly indicates temperature by a large (15mm), bright red, seven segment LED 3½ digit display. It can be supplied either for discrete panel mounting, or stacked in a matrix with other 48 Range units using integral stacking bars to form part of a comprehensive temperature moni- toring and control system.

Compact chiller

A compact chiller, suitable for use in drinks vending machines, has been announced by Blackburn Starling Equipment. The user-friendly VK5 water chiller has been designed for minimal noise level even when the condensing unit is operating.

The VK5 is capable of maintaining a constant water dispense tem- perature of 7°C. Requiring minimal power consumption, the chiller uses a Danfoss 090B5297 thermostat for ice bank control and a Mellor 240 or l l 0 V motor is fitted for agitation. The condensing unit consists of a Danfoss TL3A compressor, and thermal Werke condensors (6FP1) which are fan-assisted using a 5W Mavib fan motor with aluminium blades.

To minimize servicing costs and assist the maintenance/service engin- eer, the agitator assembly is fitted with male tab terminations and screw-fixed with the ice bank control thermostat at the top of the unit. Once the lift-off perspex cabinet lid is removed either component can be replaced in only a few minutes.

VK5 chiller for drinks vending machines

The chiller weighs 19.6 kg and has dimensions 430 x 300 x 243 ram. It is capable of producing three drinks (156cm a each) per minute and has optional juice coils.

Airflow switch to monitor cooling systems An airflow switch especially designed to monitor cooling system airflows has been introduced by Cambridge Aeroflo, Inc. The switch monitors the flow from one direction only and provides outputs compatible with most logic circuits, relays, and warning alarms.

The Cambridge Series 300 Uni- Directional Airflow Switch monitors air speed and temperature to detect cooling system degradation, failure, and airflow reversal. The switch is capable of monitoring airflows from 50 to 1000 fpm over a 10-50°C range.

This solid-state device is calibrated to standard curves or customer specifications and is available in normally-open and normally-closed versions. It is also shock and vibration resistant and measures 12.7mm diameter by 76mm long

(requiring 11-27 VDC input). The Cambridge Series 300 switch
